PILLAR OF CREATION↴![]() Upon arriving, things in Wismuth will seem pretty peaceful. It's a massive city, with no shortage of things going on, but things like violent crime and homelessness are at an all time low. You can wander the streets without much scrutiny, presumed to just be tourists, and most people here come across as helpful and friendly. ► VIBRANCY: The main thing that sets this planet apart is its vibrancy - AKA, the raw creative energy its filled with, flowing from its status as a Pillar of Creation. There is no literal pillar, but Wismuth and its planet is a place where Creation's energy comes through strongest. As a result, everything here feels somehow more real, more intense in a way that's hard to put a finger on. Life is abundant, and its bleeds through in every sensation. ► ATTRACTIONS: There are plenty of things to see while going around the city. First and foremost, there is a lovely beach area bordering the ocean, and a number of tourist aimed attractions built around it. There are giant malls, movie theaters, live stage performances, museums and all kinds of other points of cultural interest. Anything you can do in a big city you can do here, but better. ► ALLOWANCES: The Ringmaster will be giving everyone a reasonable amount of local currency for a few days on the town. You can't make any massive acquisitions with it, but it's more than enough to eat out, see some shows, go to the beach, and whatever you like. You can feel free to pick up some casual supplies, like mundane clothing and souvenirs. There will be more given out later, after the performance week. ► PERFORMANCE: Performance week is starting early this time, after only a couple days of exploration. When the carnival has already been on vacation for a month, the Ringmaster figures they may as well get right to it, and then do more touring afterwards. Members of the local populace will find themselves in the carnival once performances begin, dazzled by the other worldly sights. Magic doesn't seem to exist here, despite the fact that it will flow easier for people bringing it from other worlds. |
REIRA AKABA | OTA
[In such a vibrant, and fully emotional place, it's difficult to avoid being briefly overwhelmed as an empath-but it's easy enough to adjust, fortunately. Probably the greatest thing about the intensity of the air is just how much elation she can feel herself gathering-somehow more easily, or even 'naturally', one could say. Reira travels wearing the sun-dress from the Summerlands over her old pair of shorts, but somehow just the environment of Wismuth makes her want to go above and beyond. She's got the new earrings Cole gave her, for one-but more importantly, under the glamor of a more typical seven year old child, she's pulled on the helmet Yuugo gave her and rolled out her Noah Bike.
She'll be sticking to Bike Lanes of course-she's too slow and small for the road, but too fast for the side-walks. But travelling on the bike, and on the bike she spent some of the holiday learning to drive, is a treat in itself. To say nothing of all the times she can be spotted stopping, pulling out her infinite polaroid, and taking pictures!
Normally of things like squirrels, or cute posters, or pets, or colourful store fronts, or...
Really she's gathering quite a lot of photos in her pockets, and it's a good thing she has a tiny bag attached to her back for these things. Say cheese if she knows you though!
You could be next. ...Or you could just be calling her back while she's driving away on her wee bike. That too.]
[Creation At It's Finest]
[In a place where things are most vibrant, the best thing to do is Practice. With Reira now only having Animal Care to worry over, she has a fair amount of spare time once her own duties have been handled...which is why, in the place where magic flows with more ease, she practices.
The most important spell to practice is Shield, as Taako has been trying to instruct. Mostly she's trying to work on that one when he's around, but failing that she can be found in a fairly remote area of one of the city's parks, breathing deep, and slow-focusing on a faltering 'shield', a silvery and shining thing that occasionally glistens under the light before vanishing quickly. Whatever it is that makes her frustrated about this, is unknown...but she does seem frustrated.
The rest of the time? She has books-kid's books, or maybe kid's magic, hard to tell from just glancing-but she looks through something near the back in particular before closing it, and pulling out some feathers from her pocket.
And then closing her eyes....and focusing...Focusing...
Do try not to just interrupt unannounced, in either case, please-!]
[Performance Boredom (Wild Card)]
[With so little to do while everyone is distracted by the performances, but the added likely caveat that she NOT wander out into Wismuth entirely alone, Reira can be seen doing a few things around the Carnival grounds. Naturally, her job is one of them-animals still need to be fed, groomed, cleaned up after... ...but beyond that it's a lot of free time both In Person and...well. 'Online'.
Having been given a 'party console', and all, not to mention plenty of books and even a movie, sometimes the most anyone will see of her during performance time is a tiny rock-patched girl sitting outside her trailer on what's practically a cloud, trying to read while an eagle and sparrow both fuss for attention. She could also be inside-the sound of the video games echoing through the window of the trailer, barely audible beyond a certain point in the employee's only grounds.
And then of course, there's the lake and hot-spring. Someone convinced her to wind up getting a kid's swimsuit (They were at a BEACH after all), and that means either seeing what the fuss about the spring is, or just dipping toes into a lake. No one wants to let her go to the beach alone either. Can't imagine why that is.
But really, she could be doing...'Anything' at this point.]
Creation
Reira. [He says it softly so as not to startle here.] What's up?

[WELL DARN, YUUYA. Suffice to say the shimmer that Was appearing has definitely vanished the moment he opens his mouth, the girl jumping a good inch from her seat in shock. She can't completely Frown at Yuuya over this but...
Well she's Very Disappointed, Yuuya.] ...Mnhhh... ...I lost it again... [What 'it' is, is for her to know and...Yuuya to ask, probably.]

Performance Boredom
... swallow his protestation and force his eyes to be slightly less wide, lift his hand in a small wave, and ask the only sensible question he can come up with: )
... Are you managing to get any reading done?
( There has to be some sort of normalcy here. Really, there does. )
Fun Facts; Reira's country of origin is headcanoned as the Ukraine-
Umn? [Reira didn't so much see or feel him coming as she did feel that someone was Around before he spoke. She's an empath, not a radar-blip. But she does seem at least far less surprised than one would be, when it comes to interruptions mid book. The birds, as well, stop their nonsense-the eagle fluffing herself up a bit in some vaguely 'threatening' display that looks more like a fuzzy chicken, the sparrow diving back into hair.
And yet, she nods.] Um...a little..! Sometimes there's a word I have to write down to ask Jonathan about... ...But I'm definitely not stuck!
Laughs, good, hello neighbour (so to speak)
It's good to have someone who can help you with new vocabulary. ( Things he'll miss the internet for, if this is really going to be mostly offline for the next... year. He tucks that thought away. Books were helps on their own. Which, actually, what language was he speaking? He'd thought it was Russian at first, since he'd been in St. Petersburg before he was here, but... hm. )
Do you mind if I ask what the book's about?
it was great bc I had to check to see if her region would have it and...
Umnh..! Yeah, and there's a lot of words I don't know, so... [Quite a lot, though not necessarily the ones anyone expects. Regardless, she holds out the cover.] It's about griffins..!
...The back said they have to save the world, but they don't know what they're saving it from yet. ...They just know they have to.
[It feels a bit Familiar, suffice to say. Her brother had a similar idea about saving things. That's not really important anymore though!] ....Umh...
...Who are you though?
we can bring out our character's inner Russian speaking now without worry

WHOOPS, CREATION
He's never been a big fan of pretending to be a human.]
How's it going, squirt?
[Who knows why he's chosen this exact moment to show up, but he's here now.]
LMFF
[Such is the curse of the easily alarmed- But, as she realizes who it is, she calms down considerably.] Oh-! Umnh... Taako is teaching me some things, so I was trying to practice it here...
[Some meaning...One. One thing. One Entire Single Thing.] ...I guess I'm okay, though. [She adds it a bit as an after-thought, as if not entirely sure what 'how's it going' was supposed to ask of her. She hopes she covered it Somehow, at least.]
Re: LMFF
Oh yeah? Whatcha tryin' to learn?
[He sounds genuinely curious, which he is.]
no subject
Try the simple alternative.] Taako said it was supposed to be invisible, but... ....it keeps flickering...
[It's not really lasting very long either. Maybe half a second at best when she can get it up.]

Wildcard
[Gee. One wonders who that could be.]
Hey Reira!
[Strolling over while she's trying to relax on that cloudbed as much as one can with those sorts of feathered companions- while the hologram dragon hovering alongside him is thinly glamored as a mundane iguana, distinctly wingless and flightless. An odd choice for the magic.]
no subject
Reira looks up from her book, slipping a reed of gold in as the bookmark before closing it over. Glamor in here, really??? ....It must not have quite worn off just yet, she supposes. Carnivals don't need glamors after all. It's only a necessity when they're actually out and about beyond the limits.
It is.................Weird. However.] Um! Hi! [she starts, staring almost unblinkingly at the thing.] ....What is it?
[is it the iguana]
no subject
Well uh...
[How does he explain the problem, Yugo thinks, as Clear Wing flies ahead of him to go investigate the eagle and undead sparrow.]
So I dunno if you noticed, but ever since I learned how to do it, I've been letting Clear Wing stay out more often. Pretty cool right?
no subject
The Sparrow, meanwhile, has no size to back her up-but she does have her undeath, and her immense confidence in it. Giving a loud PEEP, she fluffs her own feathers until she's practically a large puff ball, hopping down onto the cloud bed and chasing after the dragon with long strings of the sound. PEEP PEEP PEEP!! She's onto you, strange one!! PEEP!
Reira just sighs.] Umn...I guess it is..! It seems like how the Sparrow is, where you don't have to give them nay food at least... ...but.... [Hmm. Yuugo seems...worried about something? Conflicted?]
...Is that hard? Letting them play more? ....they're not getting in trouble right...?

touring
When he sees her out and about taking pictures, though, he grins and heads over. His own camera isn't out, but he still has it with him, and he definitely can see how taking pictures around here could be fun - there's so much to see and do, after all. Maybe that would make it fun to talk about, instead of any potential awkwardness about the whole prison thing. Not that he holds it against her, so it shouldn't be awkward, but sometimes talking to people can be after something like that.
Either way though he approaches with a grin and a wave.]
Did you get any cool pictures yet?
no subject
She blinks as she's approached-notably wearing...probably the same thing she did most of the time in Greysol, and the Summerlands...and looks at her camera.] Umnh...I don't know if they're cool, but I got a lot of pictures...

THIS IS SO HORRIBLY LATE I'M SORRY, creation!
When he finds Reira, he's clearly been having a chill day; his long hair is tied back into a ponytail, still partially wet down with sea water, and he's clad in a tacky airbrushed shirt featuring a unicorn and the words "magical motherfucker." He has his casting glaive in his hand, having evidently been seeking her out on purpose, though he's keeping it lowered-- having a weapon right out in the open here seems ill-advised.]
Hey there, darling, how's the magic going?
ITS FINE
Bugger. It's banished with some slightly tired breaths, and she frowns a bit as Taako appears.] Umnh... ...I tried letting the magic do something on its own like Sans said, to help it, but...
...even though it's making the shield easier, I can't make it invisible...
[Stupid Shiny Glow Shield.]
no subject
[He understands her frustration, but like... she's fixating on a pretty unimportant aspect of the spell, in his opinion.]
Maybe try and focus on making it stronger, instead of making it super strong and invisible at the same time, and then work on the invisibility once you've got a good, solid shield going. Take baby steps!
[For baby magic!]
BABY MAGIC....
Ok glass isn't the best idea in her head, but. She frowns.] ...It doesn't have to go at the same time to get there..? [She questions, confused. It feels sort of like...making the cake without eggs, and then adding eggs later...
(It's not like that at all, but it's how it feels, in her head anyway.)]
