PILLAR OF CREATION↴![]() Upon arriving, things in Wismuth will seem pretty peaceful. It's a massive city, with no shortage of things going on, but things like violent crime and homelessness are at an all time low. You can wander the streets without much scrutiny, presumed to just be tourists, and most people here come across as helpful and friendly. ► VIBRANCY: The main thing that sets this planet apart is its vibrancy - AKA, the raw creative energy its filled with, flowing from its status as a Pillar of Creation. There is no literal pillar, but Wismuth and its planet is a place where Creation's energy comes through strongest. As a result, everything here feels somehow more real, more intense in a way that's hard to put a finger on. Life is abundant, and its bleeds through in every sensation. ► ATTRACTIONS: There are plenty of things to see while going around the city. First and foremost, there is a lovely beach area bordering the ocean, and a number of tourist aimed attractions built around it. There are giant malls, movie theaters, live stage performances, museums and all kinds of other points of cultural interest. Anything you can do in a big city you can do here, but better. ► ALLOWANCES: The Ringmaster will be giving everyone a reasonable amount of local currency for a few days on the town. You can't make any massive acquisitions with it, but it's more than enough to eat out, see some shows, go to the beach, and whatever you like. You can feel free to pick up some casual supplies, like mundane clothing and souvenirs. There will be more given out later, after the performance week. ► PERFORMANCE: Performance week is starting early this time, after only a couple days of exploration. When the carnival has already been on vacation for a month, the Ringmaster figures they may as well get right to it, and then do more touring afterwards. Members of the local populace will find themselves in the carnival once performances begin, dazzled by the other worldly sights. Magic doesn't seem to exist here, despite the fact that it will flow easier for people bringing it from other worlds. |

Mr. Gold | OTA
While others might be interested in more frivolous attractions, Gold focuses on ones that might be more informative. The carnival or he may never visit this world again after this visit, but that doesn't mean he should just ignore what history it has and what lessons that history might be capable of conveying via its museums, libraries and yes, even its antique shops. He's fond of antiques because old things have stories of their own. Even if the item is actually new, the style and creation of an item can have fascinating tales attached to them, if the owner of the shop has bothered to learn them.
Gold can be found browsing the shops, wandering through the museums and exploring the libraries. In libraries, he'll occasionally pause to pick out a book to peruse silently for a time until he's either finished it or has grown bored of it. Once finished with the book, he'll replace it and move on.
[opportunistic? or smart business sense?]
Gold has chosen to use his given allowance of the local currency to purchase a good amount of drinks of various sorts. Namely, the sort people typically prefer to partake of after a good romp on the beach under the sun. It's easy to set himself up a table with an ice-filled cooler to hold the drinks and a sign stating that he's got ice-cold drinks he's willing to sell for a 'reasonable' price. Of course, that reasonable price is twice the amount he had paid for them originally. He's not above taking advantage of the locals visiting the beach and charging them for the convenience of saving them the hassle of getting dressed and leaving the beach to get their drinks.

[If you want to encounter Gold within the Carnival, feel free to hit this option up. When not hanging around wardrobe, he'll be wandering the grounds.]
WILDCARD gonna get that gold i mean straw
Well, she goes in to enter the shed where such supplies are stored, intending to get a big, Big bundle of straw with which to set things proper for the Fancy Chicken.
She may be in for a surprise, however.
no subject
There's someone else currently within the shed eyeballing the bales of straw and hay before him. He currently held what from a distance looked like a piece of straw in his hand. Twisting it back and forth between his forefinger and thumb as he let his thoughts roam silently.
It isn't until he hears another person enter that he comes out of his woolgathering and turned toward them.
no subject
"....Are you a new animal keeper?" You're in the shed, and doing things with straw, so you're probably working here right. Right! Yes.
no subject
"No. The new tailor actually." He replied with an amused smile.
no subject
"..........................but you're in the supply shed..." Something isn't quite right here, and Reira flicks the light on, coming in....which, go figure, is when she notices that the straw Gold is holding is. Odd..???
"...............Hey, that's not straw..." PRIORITIES. But at least both can see the other now. Reira seems to be a waif a child, wearing the clothes she arrived in-thread bare long-sleeve shirt and shorts, with sneakers. Gold 'dust' seems to waft off her when she moves more than an inch or so, but it disappears quickly-by the time she stops moving, certainly.
At that point it's just a kid covered in patches moonrock with olivine roses up top. "...What's that?" It looks...Like metal??? Gold??? They had lots of gold at the manor, it was sort of A Thing.

[Antique shop?]
But, in the end..she was growing tired of it. Which lead the huntress to dig a little deeper and look for shops that sold items from eras gone by. Which, may be how she found herself wandering into an old out of the way Antique shop not far behind Gold.
Seeing some of the older items actually made her smile a little...reminders of an era similar to the one she grew up in. For the moment, she didn't even realize Gold was even there as she started looking at old crystal bowls and small little statues. Right now, Rip wasn't angry or on the defensive, she was relaxed and almost innocent looking.

Eventually she gets done looking at a few of the items and even selects a small one for herself. A little music box that plays some tune that could possibly be classical music. Regardless, she seems to be enamored with the little box and the little hunting scene that seems to be painted on it.
She turns to head to pay before she spots Gold at last and comes to a stop. She's quiet and then just slightly nods to him before going to pay for her purchase. Once she does, she wanders over to him. Even if it is hesitant and her prize is tucked safely in its bag.
"Good Evening."
library!
As Gold looks through one of his books, Strange bends over slightly to look at the spine. Good. A history book, that looks like it has potential, he'll want to borrow that.
"May I borrow that book when you're finished?" he bluntly asks Gold, not really caring that the man's already reading it. "I'm sitting at the table over there," he says, gesturing to the giant mess of a library table he's created.
no subject
He moved to head on over toward the table with its pile of books and since the book had been already slowly losing his interest, sets the book down on the table with the others before poking through those on the table.
Noting the fairy tales, he chuckled, though the humor might sound a little mocking than amused. "I doubt the fairy tales here are any more truthful than they've been elsewhere."
no subject
After all, fairy tales from a world where magic and faeries do exist are going to be a smidge different than those from a world where it doesn't exist, just by default. This is academic curiosity as well as nosiness on Strange's part.
no subject
Thus Strange will just have to excuse him as he continues to poke through the books, pulling one such volume of fairy tales from the pile to flip through it.
"So do you believe they can be true or is it all just stories to you?" There's curiosity in the older man's voice, as he poses the question.
no subject
"I believe they can be true. I've seen and lived through too much to outright dismiss the notion that all fairy tales are false. The main question, of course, is which are the most true."
Red cloaks and bears eating porridge are probably tales just to entertain children. But the darker ones, stories of faeries and fiends and things stealing babies from cradles, those are the ones that Strange would put more faith in than others.

Anghel would have better off walking normally. He stands out even more when he's trying to be stealthy and a large bird with a bright red spot on his chest doesn't blend in easily to begin with. (It isn't blood, despite it's appearance. It's what his plumage is supposed to look like.)
(Anghel has some unique abilities, so I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at this.)
no subject
It might not have been bad, and he might have been capable of ignoring it, had his current stalker not been a three-foot tall bird. It was simply ridiculous. He does manage to at least pretend as if he doesn't notice his avian tail until he gets off the fairgrounds and into the back area.
Once there is no chance of patrons surrounding them, he turns to face the bird and folds his arms across his chest as he gives it a 'really now?' look.
"Is there something you want from me?"

One, he can play along with the question and see where it goes or he can treat it with the mocking disdain it deserves.
Well, it isn't as if he really has anything better to do right now. He might as well entertain his stalker. If this went badly, he'd just deal with the fallout then.
"Can't say that I have, no."
no subject
"What is your purpose here?"

The library
She doesn't wait to find a chair to start perusing the tome she's picked out- which makes things interesting when she walks right into Gold. Oops?
no subject
While the impact staggered him some, he did manage to keep from dropping the book due to it least. Belle no doubt would have given him an earful over such abuse to a book, regardless of how it had occurred.
Turning his attention to the cause of the impact, he takes note of the book and can surmise what had happened. "Might I suggest finding a chair before you begin your reading?"
WILDCARD
Oi! Is someone named "Gold" here?
no subject
Yes. That would be me.
[Now it merely remained to be seen what the other wanted from him.]
no subject
Yo, Zangetsu, with acquisitions.
[he holds up the piece of paper; on it is a crude but accurate drawing of a spinning wheel]
Where the hell am I s'posed ta find one of these in a high tech world like this one?! [he flicks his wrist and lets the paper flutter to the ground] It's downright archaic!
no subject
Try an antique shop, they have those here. If you fail to find one there, check the museums.
[The second remark was more of a joking suggestion, but he really didn't care overmuch if it was taken as a serious suggestion, no doubt the museum could replace the spinning wheel if they cared about its disappearance.]
