THE LAST REQUIEM↴![]() CY-Ren's planning of a charity concert has been well received - news of bomb threats and harassment from fans have painted her as a victim in the media spotlight, and her generous attempt to make amends is getting plenty of attention. She's been busy spinning things for as much focus as possible, and the threat of potential danger has the news focusing in on the proceedings. The date is set for Day 27 in carnival time. You won't want to miss it! ► BUILD UP: In the last couple days before the concert, CY-Ren will be reaching out to all of her Harbingers, regardless of where they might be at the time - yes, this means that even if you ran off, she'll come to find you! (Unless you're in the carnival like Taako, then you're fucked.) She'll tell you that her plans are coming to head, and that if you help her with one last task then the planet will be on its way to destruction. There are multiple ways you can aid her: you can help amp up her performance as evil backup singers/musicians, or you can set yourself up around the perimeter at specified locations, using your sparks as a beacon to her magic. She's certain that she's perfected her musical formula, this time - when the concert gets underway, all those present with the capacity to be a Harbinger will awaken, and the end of days will begin. ► THE CONCERT: By the time the concert arrives, the Star Guardians will have the idea that there's something unnatural about the way the new Harbingers were made - this isn't how it usually happens, and that sets them apart from someone like CY-Ren. Maybe that means that they can be pulled away with less drastic measures as well, given that the Void didn't have the full right to their souls in the first place. Anyone coming to help (and those who aren't Star Guardians will be encouraged to come as well, given that if they are making attempts at friendship, super powers aren't required) will gather in the area early, determined to stomp this one out before it can get too far. ► HARBINGERS: This is when they will be encountered by Harbingers guarding the perimeter, as well as a small army of void creatures defending CY-Ren's last performance. Star Guardians will become aware through the power of Creation that the Harbingers on the perimeter must be neutralized in order to disrupt the concert - CY-Ren is feeding on their negative energies, and it will make it too dangerous to attack her directly. Confrontations with any Harbingers can be worked out on an individual basis via plotting - just make up a location around the concert and have your Harbinger providing a beacon of their own design. As the concert ramps up, however, the excess of Void energy will cause the newly made Harbingers to destabilize - mentally or magically, their powers will be harder to control, and their negative emotions will be running wild. However, with that instability, there is also room for a breakthrough - for someone to blast the darkness from their Sparks with friendship and light. Now is the time to reach out. ► STAR GUARDIANS: If a Harbinger is successfully turned away from the darkness, they will briefly regain control of their Sparks, and be able to manifest as a Star Guardian for the first time. This will allow the Guardians to outnumber CY-Ren's forces. Their look and powers will still be based around the same Spark, but purified by Creation and aimed towards positive things. Time to win. ► DANCE OFF: Given that the Spark of Music and the Spark of Dance are colliding, it is perhaps not a surprise that this all manifests as a big ass musical number. As CY-Ren and Noa have a music battle, everyone present (even if you aren't a Star Guardian) will find themselves magically inspired to join in. You can dance, sing, or anything in between - the more people who support Noa's side, the stronger she will be. There will be a megathread for this part of the conflict, and at this point any unturned Harbingers will awaken and be able to turn their Sparks towards the light. As CY-Ren begins to lose power, what the players do with her will be up to you. |

[And so it was time. To gather the Void’s power so it could end all of existence as they knew it. Yugo was a bit puzzled at the time about how one would use their own spark to be one of the many beacons that CY-Ren needed, but by the time Clear Wing gets them to their assigned location- the teen thinks he understands.]
Been a while since I’ve done this kind of thing before.
[Scrap parts are gathered and assembled into some sort of device that eventually gets plugged into the power plant he’s assigned at. Then with his feather blade inserted, a layer of crystal grows over the slot as soon as the "key" is turned, and the simple device hums to life with light and color reminiscent of his D-Wheel’s engine.
This is where the Harbringer of Bonds stands at the ready, who dares to attempt stopping this particular beacon?]

B - Enlightenment [Wildcard]
[But the light of creation prevailed in the end against the madness. It was still time to end all of this, just not in the way the Void wanted it. Got something else in mind along the way to the concert or during the dance-off? Come at me!]

But, Yuya thought he could help, so Cole's going to help Yuya. And at the very least, he's going to try. ]
I don't know what these are, [ Cole murmurs, as he looks at the various components of the power plant. Nigella, his tiny pink familiar, floats in the air next to him, also regarding the power plant with a little frown. Cole looks at the scenery for a second or so longer, before he turns to Yuya. ] You should go first.
[ partly because Yuya's good at things like 'talking', partly because he actually knows Yugo. ]
no subject
He juggles the duel disk and memory album in his arms, turning to Cole at his recommendation. He nods once before gripping the book firmly to offer it to him.]
Yeah. I can distract him from what he's doing, but I need your help showing him what's important to him. Can you find memories of a girl named Rin? There's one of them in the book, but I he needs to see that she didn't betray him too.
no subject
You talk to him. I'll find her.
[ Cole can do that, he just needs a moment or two to actually look through the memories and find what he's looking for. ]
And he won't see me until I want him to.
[ All the better to do this uninterrupted, after all. ]
no subject
[It's not a memory of Yugo's, though, or happy, so he'll probably have to present the book right in Yugo's face. Yuya's worried only because Yugo has a knife he's nor afraid to stab people with.] If he looks like he might hurt you, you don't have to get close with it.
[He attaches the duel disk to his arm.] I'll try to talk him down this way. I don't know what the best cue is going to be... I guess when he looks like he's going to listen.
no subject
I can dodge. And I can fight back if I have to.
[ Which he's not too pleased about but hey, that's a thing. Cole continues to listen as Yuya explains what's up...though how he's going to talk Yugo down with a large fancy bracelet, Cole doesn't know (because of course that's what a duel disk is.) Show the memories when he looks like he's going to listen. Got it.
Cole gives Yuya one last nod. And then, when Yuya takes his eyes off of him, even for a moment, Cole does his creepy thing and makes himself unseen. Get used to that, Yuya. ]
no subject
He turns back to the lighting and sucks in a deep to brace himself. And then he runs forward, looking for Yugo in the middle of all this--or trying to draw him out.] Yugo. Yugo!
no subject
[Yugo's not exactly one to hide. He steps out in his Harbringer gear with the void-corrupted dragon ever by his side as always.]
Gimme one good reason why Clear Wing and I shouldn't blast you into bits.
no subject
He stares Yugo down for a moment before raising his arm, the yellow blade humming the life as he activates it.]
Duel me. [That's enough of a reason, right? If there's any of Yugo that's still himself, there's no need to justify it.] If I lose, you can do whatever you want--but you stop this if I win!
[Even if Yuya doesn't intend to see the whole duel through, there's just a little nervousness in his tone. He's been reluctant to duel with Yugo under normal circumstances, but... they can communicate with this.]
no subject
A duel, just between us? You're joking right?
[Except the Harbringer lifts his arm and lights up his duel disk as well.]
Because you better not chicken out on me if you're not.
no subject
There's a challenging grin, however, to mask his apprehension.] In fact, I'll even let you go first!
[He holds his hand out towards Yugo in a welcoming gesture.]
no subject
[He gives a nod to his familiar and the dragon disappears back into presumably their card as Yugo draws his starting five and observes what he has to work with.]
I'll start with the spell card Speedroid Scratch! I send a Speedroid from my hand to the graveyard to grab a Speedroid out of my deck...!
And now I'll summon it, the Speedroid Double Yoyo I added to my hand! When this card is summoned, I can special summon a level three or lower Speedroid from my graveyard!
[Anyone who knows Yugo can see where this is going.]
I tune the level 4 Speedroid Double Yoyo with the level 3 Speedroid Tri-Eyed Dice! Synchro Summon! Appear now! Level 7! Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!
[The dragon's true self is back- wait a minute. Though they're not in their servant form, Clear Wing doesn't shine the way they used to, the crystals just like the fae change-induced ones on Yugo darkened in color and no better than dull glass. Dark energy shrouds the dragon's form.]
I set two cards and end my turn.
no subject
Hey, looking good! [He points to the dragon and winks--so maybe a little of that entertaining urge is slipping out. It's his Spark, after all! He draws his turns card, and his expression lights up a little more.]
All right! [He flashes two cards to Yugo, between his fingers.] Using Entermate Partnaga and Timegazer Magician, I set the pendulum scale!
[He sets the cards, the solid vision pulling up a display of each monster at the top of towers of light to his sides.] Swing, pendulum of soul! Draw an arc across the ether--and come forth, my monsters!
[He sets two more cards to the disk before raising his hand high in enthusiasm.] I pendulum summon Entermate Whip Viper, and Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!
[They come to life as holograms, if with far more clarity than any digitization should have. Odd-Eyes, in particular, despite scratching its clawed feet eagerly against the ground, is almost mournful when it looks at Clear Wing and Yugo.
Yuya lowers his gaze, speaking softer.] I know. It's like you always have to fight against them, now.
[They're dragons are like brothers, he's sure. He and Yugo are now probably closer to brothers than being one, so he understands it... as sad it makes him, it also fills him with determination to bring him back.] Entermate Partnaga gives all monsters I control 300 attack points for every Entermate on the field. One Entermate is 300 attack points each!
[Duh.] Now... I attack Clear Wing Synchro Dragon with Odd-Eyes!
[He knows there's two face down cards, but... he has Timegazer on his side, and where's the reward without a little risk? Just before his monster sets off, though, Yuya runs forward and climbs on the dragon, following it into battle. If they're going to clash like this--it's going to be a little personal.]
no subject
I activate a trap, Follow Wing! Clear Wing can't be destroyed by battle and if a level 5 or higher monster is targeting him for an attack, this card can destroy that monster! And then its attack points get added to Clear Wing's!
no subject
It's too late for Yuya to retract his mistake, and Odd-Eyes disappears right from under him and he hits the ground with a thud and a groan. He looks at Yugo upside down briefly before rolling over and pushing himself to his feet.
He lets out a sigh, halfway across the battlefield now, and then looks up at Yugo.] I guess it wouldn't be fun if it was that easy, right? You've missed it too, right? Dueling like this.
[Yuya pushes one card in the slot of his duel disk.] I place one card face down and end my turn.
no subject
[Because? There was something he's always wanted out of this that Yuya could never give him in just words wasn't there...?]
Because... then it's not real proof that I've got what it takes to beat you!
[Clear Wing gives out a roar to punctuate the statement as Yugo draws his card.]
And now go, Clear Wing! Attack his Whip Viper!
no subject
[Thus negating that attack, and his huge attack bonus.] And you can't change him back until the end of your next turn.
[It's not a flashy save, but it is efficient. More importantly, it buys him time.] Hey, did you duel like this with Rin?
no subject
But Yuya mentioned Rin. That's the signal, isn't it? Cole makes himself visible as he gestures towards Yugo. This means that there's a skinny blonde guy in a green witch's hat with a pink thing the size of a beanie baby on his shoulder standing on the sidelines, where he hadn't been before.
And Cole starts playing a memory. It appears on thin air, like it's being shown on an invisible movie screen. The memory is of Yugo and Rin, working together on the D-Wheel. It's sweaty work and both of them are a little bit dirty but they're laughing and smiling, enjoying each other's company and enjoying the work they're doing. ]
no subject
[As wary as he seems, it's nonetheless a straight and truthful answer coming out of the harbinger. Then he startles when Cole shows up out of seemingly nowhere and starts with that memory for playback.]
Wha...?!
[Seems his almost reminiscent mood is gone again for now.]
Who the hell are you?
no subject
Yuya's smile is stronger as Yugo remembers even that small detail of Rin, and at first he expects the memory playback to go smoothly... of course, it doesn't when he's more occupied with where the hell it came from than what it's showing.] Uh--that's Cole!
[That's about all the explanation Yugo is getting, though.] Look at what he's showing you!
no subject
You two always had each other, [ he calmly says, ] even when there was nothing. Remember Rin. What would she say if she saw this?
no subject
Quit it!!! You shouldn't know anything about her! Those days don't mean a thing anyway!
[As for the duel... with Follow Wing still active on his field, Yugo thinks he might have enough resources to protect Clear Wing from whatever plays the other makes.]
I end my turn, Yuya! Hurry up and take yours!!!!
no subject
[He purses his lips, then gestures to Cole to pause before showing any more memories. He told Yugo he's duel seriously, so he can't let him think he's slipping up or delaying it purposefully (even if he kind of is).
So he draws one card, reviewing the text. He didn't place any other cards, so...] With the existing pendulum scale, I summon Entermate Drago Remora! I also re-summon Odd-Eyes from the extra deck!
[The holograms come to life, giving Yuya a line-up of three.] With another Entermate on the field, Partnaga's effect adds 300 more points to my monster's attack! And I'll use Drago Remora's effect, to add 500 points to every dragon type monster on my field!
[That brings the total to 2300, 3600, and 2800 attack points respectively. Basically, they're all more than enough to take out Clear Wing and Yugo's remaining life points if Clear Wing's destruction isn't stopped.]
Remember how you felt when Yuri took her? You've been trying to hard to save her, to see her again! Isn't it why you're with the carnival?!
no subject
The card game's still going on and Cole still has no idea what's going on. If there's a scale, shouldn't they be weighing the dragons? And why's that one called Odd-Eyes, that's a bit mean. He'll ask Yuya so many questions about the cards later but now isn't the time. They've got someone to save. ]
She still matters. She'll always matter.
no subject
Whatever was happening, obviously it's nothing good. Yugo flinches as both he and Clear Wing alike as attracted void energy spirals around and floods their forms.]
I... she.... nghhh!!
[Clear Wing cries out again in fury and... pain?
It feels like it's hard to breathe and yet as if he's never felt more power run through his body than ever before. The harbringer collapses to one knee, but glares defiantly with brightly glowing eyes.]
But it wasn't enough! That makes it a LIE...!!!
