HOME GROUND↴![]() At long last, it is over. The Prince is dead, and all of his stolen Names have been restored - all that's left to do is treat the wounds and move on. For the first day or two, the Ringmaster will be arranging passage for the servants that are left, all of which have remembered their names for the first time in years. The earth elemental that had been trapped and forced to serve as the Prince's manor, the Heart of Stone, is happy to help for the moment. It appreciates the Ringmaster's mercy, and is free after untold eons of imprisonment. Yet, there are plenty of aspects that are far from simple. There are still servants left mad and transformed into beasts, with no easy way to change them back. The Prince's spells outlive him, and those bearing his poison and his curses will have a difficult road ahead of them. Though most of the bestial servants have been rounded up, and a large number that had been reduced to unmoving statues returned, even the Ringmaster can't return them to normal so simply. The next week is for rest and for settling remaining affairs. If you want to bid farewell to any particular NPCs, or assure care is given where it's needed, now is the time to do it. ► A CURE: The Ringmaster will tell everyone simply - there is no simple way to undo another fae's magic. The Prince's powers were essentially on par with hers, which means that those who have been transformed to stone and those that were cursed into beasts and driven insane are not something she can trivially fix. It will take the work of the carnival and a couple weeks of treatment to shed the curse of stone, and the maddened servants are an entirely separate matter. She will do what she can, but for the most part she is arranging for the Prince's servants to be cared for elsewhere. At least for now, the Ringmaster will be animating the stone portions of people's bodies with magic, though those portions will still be a bit clumsy and numb feeling. ► THE NEW HEARTSTONE: In the absence of the prince, the Heart of Stone will be taking over the remains of the Prince's realm and preventing it from collapsing into void. As it turns out, the manor had been an earth elemental all along - a form of Wyld Fae almost on par to the Prince and Ringmaster themselves. How the Heart of Stone was enslaved is a long story presumably, but the Ringmaster considers it to be a sign of the Prince's own depravity. The Heart will be allowing visitors for the first couple days of this period through the portal, but keep in mind you are essentially just walking around on its body. At least the realm has a floor, now, instead an endless abyss surrounding it. |

[Zangetsu enters the tent and immediately crouches, arms open for Suzu] Suzu-chan! I've missed you~ I went to our trailer and found some weird guy instead of you and Gon. I guess the boss shuffled us around while we weren't looking!
[But this tent certainly fit Gon better, what with his giant doggo butt. And his... new horns. Zangetsu tries not to let his heart sink too far when he sees them.
How much did he remember?]
no subject
[Also don't call him Gon.] ...Are you alright, yourself? ....I, the man Gongenzaka, can at least see you're doing better than me..! [He laughs, only for the sound to break into a cough.] KHHHGGF-! Huhh!!
[Rocks on the side do that.]
no subject
Who goes into a coughing spell]
Geez, don't overdo it, ok--! I'm doing fine. ... Actually, that's kind of why I'm here. I wanted to make sure you... were recovering from that... mess. With the hunt. And stuff. [he starts faltering a bit.] ... I'm sorry about the eye. It was the... [he swallows, and takes a seat on one of the many soft pillows] .... It was the quickest and most painless way I could think of.
no subject
[But...that's not the point.] ....I, the man Gongenzaka, shall be fine, [he rasps, sighing.] ....These stones are in....a rather unfortunate place, is all...
no subject
[ah. Yes. The arm. Zangetsu looks down and away, his cheeks flushing a bit blue]
Uh. Right. Your arm. I only kind of remember that day. But it is, ah... [he clears his throat] -- my understanding that I am at fault for that. [he seems equal parts embarrassed and guilty to admit it] I do not reason well in that form -- it may not have been the best choice for an activity like that. That said. [he stands up and rolls up his left sleeve] Whether or not I was in control or not doesn't matter. I am at fault. And I want to make it up to you. So. Until your arm is returned to you, I'll also go without.
no subject
[wait. wait. w-] O-Oii, what are you doing...
cw: minor gore/amputation
[Zangetsu brings the talons on his right hand to bare and cloaks them in dark energy. With luck, it would cauterize it and prevent a big mess. But he does move away from the pillows. He turns to one side so that Gon doesn't have to watch, and he digs his razor-sharp claws into the arm, right at the shoulder joint. And he moves them around in a circle. Thanks to the energy, there is minimal blood, and the arm comes loose with a faint "pop".
He holds his complete left arm in his right hand, looking at it with an almost perplexed expression. It blackens at the edges, and the black consumes the severed limb before it flakes away like ash. At the same time, the wound on his arm bubbles white ooze, forming a neat cap over it. He lets his left sleeve hang loose and empty]
There. I won't grow it back until you do. I'm sorry, it's not quite fair -- I should have taken it during the hunt. But we couldn't afford to lose so I had to wait.
no subject
A-AAAUUUH.... [That. That happened. He won't protest. There's not much to protest now, he....he knows this isn't a 'big deal' for Zangetsu, losing an arm, it can grow back he capped it off just now, but....he....] Y...You....
[....He can't help it. He's crying. And Zangetsu has no doubt seen this-the starts of tears, before they erupt into volcanoes of water-but here, some are trapped under bandages, leaking down his face. The remainder dribble down from the other, his nose twitching as he looks to his friend.]
...You've moved me to tears, and I, the man Gongenzaka, cannot even properly show my own respect..! [He wails-though perhaps missing out on a one-armed hug is for the best? ....Or perhaps not. At the side, Suzu yelps-barking loudly, and finally sniffing at Zangetsu worriedly while whimpering. What happened? What happened..!?
....Nothing seems 'wrong', and yet...everyone seems to be acting as though something is.]
no subject
Though, those tears. They're so ridiculous. Zangetsu can't help but laugh aloud before he covers his mouth to stifle it.]
Don't cry like that, you idiot! I won't be friends with someone so weak--! [and yet here he is, embracing Gon with his remaining arm.
It feels....
nice?
For a moment, the hole in his chest stops aching quite so much, filling it with warmth. The feeling is fleeting, but not one he was expecting or would soon forget.
Suzu, for what it's worth, gets a gentle stroke on her head with the dorsal side of one of his toes, almost as dextrous as his hand]
You're alright, Suzu-chan. It's no big deal.
no subject
[He sounds, even more, like a complete pansy but. Ah....well, the tears eventually calm, and Suzu is nuzzling Zangetsu back and calming down herself.]
...What encouragement, for me to find some way to restore myself though, [he chuckles, wheezing a bit as he does so.] ...But then, I, the man Gongenzaka, find myself thinking I should have expected no less than this... [It's an impressive form of dedication, certainly. A thing he can't let down, certainly.]
no subject
[once he seems done, Zangetsu disengages the hug and grabs up Suzu in his arm, cuddling her with his cheek. He does love that little doggo!!]
And damn right. You need that thing back in working order before our next stop, if you can! You never know what crazy shit the Ringmaster is going to get us into next. I have to protect Ichigo, and that's gonna be hard to do without one of my arms.
no subject
....Perhaps if I, the man Gongenzaka, were to ask of her some advice, regarding this....
[He...can't exactly regenerate...after all...]
no subject
no subject
[Whether she wanted to deal with those people or not.]
................Zangetsu...
[....He thinks back to it, to the words he thought he so faintly heard as he died. ...But he does not say anything, instead nodding.] ..........I, the man Gongenzaka, am glad that you took that gamble, all the same.
no subject
[he looks up at Gon with a blink] Mm? [he listens, then closes his eyes with a small grin and a huff of laughter] ... If the roles had been reversed, if it had been me instead of you... you'd have done the same, ne? We do what we have to to survive. That is our instinct.
no subject
[But, that said. He can't help but smile, even if sadly.] ....If our roles had been reversed.... ...I, the man Gongenzaka, would find myself shamed, that my first 'victory' was so hollow and false.
...But you are correct, [He adds, a little stronger.] ...Perhaps not just for survival, but you are correct, that I, the man Gongenzaka, would do the same for you.
no subject
Zangetsu smiles himself, a warmer thing than usual. He wants to say a bunch of sappy things. That he's glad Gongenzaka is his friend. That he's the first person to ever befriend him that wasn't also part of him. Someone who wasn't just scared of him, seeing him as a burden or a beast. Granted, Zangetsu has... limited interactions with people.
But it meant a lot anyway.]
Heh. Can I read people, or can't I? [with a final pat, Zangetsu removes the snubbull from his lap and stands up, placing his remaining hand in the "pocket" slit of his hakama] So! Who's the lucky bastard you're roomin' with now, bush boy? Or are you alone in the big top?
no subject
He would not take it back. Not one moment (well maybe the vampire moment). The most he can do as Zangetsu compliments his own skill is laugh however, before it fades out into confusion.] Auh...that is....a good question, actually....
...This was once Blue Diamond's tent, but Blue Diamond, of course, has taken a leave from the Carnival.... ....I, the man Gongenzaka, have been told I shall be sharing with others, but I have yet to meet them at all..!
