HOME GROUND↴![]() At long last, it is over. The Prince is dead, and all of his stolen Names have been restored - all that's left to do is treat the wounds and move on. For the first day or two, the Ringmaster will be arranging passage for the servants that are left, all of which have remembered their names for the first time in years. The earth elemental that had been trapped and forced to serve as the Prince's manor, the Heart of Stone, is happy to help for the moment. It appreciates the Ringmaster's mercy, and is free after untold eons of imprisonment. Yet, there are plenty of aspects that are far from simple. There are still servants left mad and transformed into beasts, with no easy way to change them back. The Prince's spells outlive him, and those bearing his poison and his curses will have a difficult road ahead of them. Though most of the bestial servants have been rounded up, and a large number that had been reduced to unmoving statues returned, even the Ringmaster can't return them to normal so simply. The next week is for rest and for settling remaining affairs. If you want to bid farewell to any particular NPCs, or assure care is given where it's needed, now is the time to do it. ► A CURE: The Ringmaster will tell everyone simply - there is no simple way to undo another fae's magic. The Prince's powers were essentially on par with hers, which means that those who have been transformed to stone and those that were cursed into beasts and driven insane are not something she can trivially fix. It will take the work of the carnival and a couple weeks of treatment to shed the curse of stone, and the maddened servants are an entirely separate matter. She will do what she can, but for the most part she is arranging for the Prince's servants to be cared for elsewhere. At least for now, the Ringmaster will be animating the stone portions of people's bodies with magic, though those portions will still be a bit clumsy and numb feeling. ► THE NEW HEARTSTONE: In the absence of the prince, the Heart of Stone will be taking over the remains of the Prince's realm and preventing it from collapsing into void. As it turns out, the manor had been an earth elemental all along - a form of Wyld Fae almost on par to the Prince and Ringmaster themselves. How the Heart of Stone was enslaved is a long story presumably, but the Ringmaster considers it to be a sign of the Prince's own depravity. The Heart will be allowing visitors for the first couple days of this period through the portal, but keep in mind you are essentially just walking around on its body. At least the realm has a floor, now, instead an endless abyss surrounding it. |

Yet his knife stops when he's told he can stop and his thumb slides along it for a moment. No, no it is best to keep peeling, "You may not need them but I do have my orders." As much as he wants to stop he knows better than to complain.
no subject
"... I'm gonna call Childermass-san right quick. I'll be back."
With that, he steps out to make a call.
no subject
"Alright..."
no subject
"You're off potato-duty! Instead, I'm going to show you how to clean pots and pans. Is that ok? If you're going to have to do busywork to be punished, it may as well be busywork that helps the kitchen, right? It should b-- BUTA!!"
While Rin was out of the room, the flaming bat had moved on from the potato peelings to one of the baskets of actual peeled potatoes and was starting to put it in its mouth. It stops and sets the (slightly charred) potato back into the basket.
no subject
He's not really alarmed at the bat chewing up any of the potatoes. It was his job to peel them, not protect them, and he's grabbing the edge of the stool with a lot of extended effort to drag himself onto his feet. Who knew not having use of her back fully due to petrification would actually make getting up and down harder?!
"Fine. Lead on then and show me where to sit."
no subject
Rin, however, IS concerned about the potatoes, and he grabs up the bat by its flaming ears. It shrieks and squeals incessantly until it escapes, and flutters out into the main kitchen area making a pitiful sound.
"... Sit? Oh. Well, if you wanna sit, bring your stool, ok? That's one of the ones that can jack up yeah? I think it is. It'll need to be a little higher at the sink."
With a smile, the boy leads Tyki into another section of the kitchen, where there's a large stainless steel-looking sink and a stack of pots and pans. It's not a biblical stack by any means, but it looks like a lot of the food is dried on.
"Ok!! So, it's easy," he says, taking a skillet in one hand, "You get some soap on the thing, like this... And then you take this steel wool here and scrape off any really hard to get food bits. Then you switch to the softer sponge here, see?" Rin demonstrates each step for Tyki's benefit. "Then, rinse it clean under the water... and kinda dab off the excess water with these towels... and then you set them to dry over here in this pile! Then you do it over again. It's tedious, but... at least it uses different hand motions than peeling potatoes? It's not so repeat-y!"
He's looking out for your carpal tunnel syndrome, Tyki! Really!
"We have a dishwasher for plates and stuff but these pots don't really fit. Oh! There's rubber gloves, too, if you don't want to get your hands wet. I kinda like gettin' em all pruny though." He offers another bright smile. "Don't worry, Tyki-san! If I can do it, you can definitely do it!"
no subject
Of course he wanted to sit. His back was killing him and he wasn't going to stand all day if he could help it. When he reaches the area he'll drop the stool and immediately sit down on it to watch the 'demonstration'. Ah, so he's being led to take care of the pile of dishes that have started to pile up unnecessarily.
He glances then at the gloves, the mountain of pots and pans, then rolls up his sleeves and grabs one to start scrubbing after applying that strange soap. He won't have to worry about the water much but then he's not using his powers like he wants to. It would be so easy to just pull the filth and grime off these pans if he could use his Power to Choose.
He snorts lightly at the reassurance, "What's your name, boy?"
no subject
Rin watches for a moment, making sure Tyki got his instructions. He's sure he did -- the guy's a grown man, after all, surely he can remember what was told to him thirty seconds ago. But... you never know! It seems like he was going to be fine.
"Me? Rin! Okumura Rin."
no subject
Feel free to correct him if necessary but he's a fast learner and while he may be slow going at first he certainly wasn't showing any enthusiasm. Honestly, who likes to wash dishes? Though, he's guaranteed to break a plate or two eventually and perhaps not apologize for it. He might try to fix it. Who knows.
"And what trailer do you live in?" he asks casually as if he wasn't planning anything at all.
no subject
(He would have to look up a recipe for potato soup after this... would they have enough cream?!)
"Uh... #15! With my buddy Sora," he says, easily. then he pauses and looks at Tyki," ... Why? Dude, you're not gonna... like, leave a flaming bag of poop on my doorstep or something, right?"
no subject
Food is a great comfort to him so he'll be tempted to try some of the things made out of these potatoes later. The problem is there wasn't a lot he could keep down.
He snorts gently at the assumption he would do anything so vulgar in that regard as he scrubs at that pot in hand, "While that sounds rather vulgar in regards to other more effective pranks, I fear I am not that low on the scale of a commoner to resort to such putrid means."
no subject
At least potato soup was fairly bland, easy to digest, and quite nutritious. Probably some of the best sick food there is!
"Well whatever you do to me, just don't bother Sora with it, ok?" he sighs. "He hasn't done anything to deserve it! And he's a nice guy."
Rin fails to mention that there is usually a large insect-like dragon outside the trailer, one who might not take kindly to someone approaching with ill intentions.
no subject
He wouldn't be adverse to it with a little conditioning and convincing.
"Yes, I've met him. He certainly is a nice boy." He's a little repetitive because honestly that's the only impression he got of him. He knows good boys when he sees them. He knows the kind that likely is to put themselves in harms way for others. The fact he's extremely helpful and encouraging only puts Rin under that same category to some degree.
"He also got caught."
no subject
That and his hair. Which, he does, in fact, just wake up with. Rin's seen it!
"Hm... well... we both did. But I don't think his supervisor is punishing him any. And... I don't have a supervisor! So there!"
no subject
"Oh? So you're saying you want a special punishment made just for you~ I could put in a good word somewhere to someone." he teases casually as he rinses off his first pot and glances over his work.
no subject
Rin turns red at the suggestion and waves his hands frantically in front of his face. "No!! No no no! I'm good! I promise! I learned a heck of a lesson."
no subject
"Are you sure~ I could dial Childermass back up or even someone else a little more strict."
no subject
Rin wags his hands again and shakes his head, "No! Not Childermass-san! His punishments are too cruel!"
no subject
"Hand crafted and delicately shaped to fit the one being punished to the letter. At least I doubt you'd have to wash dishes."
no subject
"Hnnnnrgh. I'd really rather not think about it, dude."
no subject
"Yes, yes. I'm sure you don't."
no subject
"A-anyway. I need to go figure out what to do with those potatoes you peeled. If you need me, just yell for me, ok?"
no subject
"Sure, sure. I might pick up something to go later." Though what will likely he'll come back to is a couple of broken plates here and there that have been fused back together oddly. Or Tyki passed out against the sink by the end of the day from exhaustion.
