⇨ THE PRINCE IS DEAD

Who: Everyone!
When: Day 178 - B1: Day 6
Where: The Carnival and sometimes on top of the Heart of Stone.
What: Now that the Prince is dead and gone, there's a lot left to sort out. As the remaining servants are liberated and those captured by the Prince are tended to, it's time for recovery and goodbyes.
Warnings: Nothing in particular.

HOME GROUND↴

At long last, it is over. The Prince is dead, and all of his stolen Names have been restored - all that's left to do is treat the wounds and move on. For the first day or two, the Ringmaster will be arranging passage for the servants that are left, all of which have remembered their names for the first time in years. The earth elemental that had been trapped and forced to serve as the Prince's manor, the Heart of Stone, is happy to help for the moment. It appreciates the Ringmaster's mercy, and is free after untold eons of imprisonment.

Yet, there are plenty of aspects that are far from simple. There are still servants left mad and transformed into beasts, with no easy way to change them back. The Prince's spells outlive him, and those bearing his poison and his curses will have a difficult road ahead of them. Though most of the bestial servants have been rounded up, and a large number that had been reduced to unmoving statues returned, even the Ringmaster can't return them to normal so simply.

The next week is for rest and for settling remaining affairs. If you want to bid farewell to any particular NPCs, or assure care is given where it's needed, now is the time to do it.

► A CURE: The Ringmaster will tell everyone simply - there is no simple way to undo another fae's magic. The Prince's powers were essentially on par with hers, which means that those who have been transformed to stone and those that were cursed into beasts and driven insane are not something she can trivially fix. It will take the work of the carnival and a couple weeks of treatment to shed the curse of stone, and the maddened servants are an entirely separate matter. She will do what she can, but for the most part she is arranging for the Prince's servants to be cared for elsewhere. At least for now, the Ringmaster will be animating the stone portions of people's bodies with magic, though those portions will still be a bit clumsy and numb feeling.

► THE NEW HEARTSTONE: In the absence of the prince, the Heart of Stone will be taking over the remains of the Prince's realm and preventing it from collapsing into void. As it turns out, the manor had been an earth elemental all along - a form of Wyld Fae almost on par to the Prince and Ringmaster themselves. How the Heart of Stone was enslaved is a long story presumably, but the Ringmaster considers it to be a sign of the Prince's own depravity. The Heart will be allowing visitors for the first couple days of this period through the portal, but keep in mind you are essentially just walking around on its body. At least the realm has a floor, now, instead an endless abyss surrounding it.

[If Ichigo is observant enough he might notice the few Tease scattered in the trailer will start to flit their wings a little faster than normal the closer Tyki gets. It's their way of warning him that there is someone up close or nearby. He had noticed signs of someone else being in his trailer the first couple of nights but hadn't bothered to try to really find any way of figuring out who it was.

Normally he could use his Tease to track the scent but the effort in following them when really there was only certain places he would rather be was rather tasking on him with that poison running rampart in his system. He honestly shouldn't be out of bed at all but he was out wandering every day.

It's slow and staggering as he makes his approach toward his trailer near the back of the trailer park. Every heavy step from a days worth of effort is taxing on him and his eyes will lift to see the Tease, the windows and doors open, and then the orange haired person waiting inside. He smiles a half cheerful, half tired look towards the other.]

Ah, so you're the one that's been lurking around my trailer...

[It's not the flutter of wings or the sound of footsteps that first alerts Ichigo that someone's headed his way. Over the years he's gotten good at sensing the approach of powerful things, mostly because then he has to fight them, but it still had its uses. Like not being easy to sneak up on. He pauses his reading of the tattered book, glancing in the direction of unfamiliar power.

Nobody he knew, not yet. And they were definitely headed towards the trailer. His missing roommate perhaps?

The butterflies seem restless.

And then ... then there is the sound that tells him weakness, and opportunity, and Ichigo stills, listening, weighing. Nobody here has been hostile yet. There's no reason to think this would change ... and of course it makes sense there would be wounded, exhausted people. Recovering people, ones that didn't need more trouble at this point.

In comparison Tyki's appearance is almost anticlimactic, and Ichigo blinks once in faint surprise. That explains a lot.]

Yeah. Got told by the head lady to stay here. You need a hand?

[Nothing of his bearing or tone really suggests anything other than grumpy punk, but the offer seems genuine by the way the book is set aside and he rises to his feet. Was this one of the recent 'prey', or one of the hunters? Or neither?]

[Tyki often carries himself like a noble but one of less importance and more of an average person. While he does have some power behind him he isn't one to flaunt it that is until it is necessary. When he's actually showing off it'll be apparent how easy he could take control of almost any situation.

He's just down on his luck and in a lot of pain right now. The poison was much deeper than skin, muscle, and flesh. It's evident in every step, stagger, and gesture he makes. He was able to hide it at first but now it's showing more than he likes by the end of each and every day.]

I was wondering when she'd stick me with someone else. The last one I had moved out before went to the manor. [He has no idea she's left the carnival completely and while he might find that out later it wasn't important right now.]

I've made it this far by myself. [Said casually as if it wasn't a yes or a no. He's wary of everyone right now but that was just the poison talking. It's a heavy step once he reaches the door and he's gripping the side of it to heave himself up the couple of steps into the trailer.]

There's a few of us new here, I guess she'll just take any place to put us for now.

['This far by myself' wasn't actually a no, and as much as Ichigo tended towards abrasiveness and bad temperament, he has ... issues with doing nothing when faced with obvious suffering, and it's obvious Tyki isn't having a good time. So since he hadn't actually been told no, he heads for the door with every intention of getting ahold of the man and if successful carefully pull him up and through the door.

He is much stronger than he looks. And a lot more gentle than one might expect, he's used to dealing with wounded.

Finding somewhere to set him afterward will .. take a minute longer, if all goes well.]

Yeah well, doesn't mean you have to keep doing it by yourself. We might be stuck sharing spaces for a while, after all.

If you're assigned to this trailer then you're right. You'll be here for a long while unless you move elsewhere or I do.

[Not that he has any plans to move anywhere. He only had a strong attachment to one person right now and they already had a roommate.

When the orange haired human goes to touch him he doesn't exactly protest. He's used to being touched on a daily basis and despite his health right now he's not turning down help. He isn't a doctor, he's being gentle, and he's actually being helpful without mocking him for being so weak.]

Just put me on the couch for now. It'll take more effort to get into my bed. [Given how only half the bed was visible seeing as the other half was tucked behind the ladder stairs he would have to bend. He'd do that later.]

[Moving, or not, can be handled later. If it wound up that they hated each other and it was the only way to prevent murder then that would be seen to then, right now he has ... to make sure covertly that he's not about to squash a butterfly while working on maneuvering Tyki to the couch.

At least this is reasonably not difficult to do.]

Be better than sitting on the floor at least. Trailers aren't really made for comfort.

[At least as far as he knows. This one was well enough appointed though that he didn't feel like he was living in a death camp or something, so there's that! Once he's sure Tyki isn't about to fall off or collapse or SPONTANEOUSLY DIE or something, he's reasonably quick to step back into a more comfortable personal bubble range.

Being helpful and lurking super close were two wildly different things.]

You need anything til you're feeling better, let me know. I'll do what I can.

[That caveat is there - til he's better.]

.. Name's Ichigo Kurosaki. The uh, butterflies are yours or do I need to keep chasing them out.

[Tyki rarely hated someone unless they gave him a really good reason to. A death of a family member or threatening his family would do it. He's cheerful most of the time so there was no worry of upsetting him. Right now he's just a little cranky but again Ichigo was handling this well.

The Tease will gently walk out of the way when Tyki is moved onto the couch. His hand grabs the edge of the cushion and he'll pull his back against it to ease his discomfort. Other than looking like a hot mess there were no injuries present on his body. It's because the petrification is spread down across his back and the manticore wings are trapped under his shirt.

He chuckles lightly and then coughs abusively at the thick rumble hurting his throat and chest. It's sometimes hard to breathe. Already he can tell this person is a good boy.]

Heh, I might take you up on that offer if they don't dish out a cure fast enough. Every day I feel like I'm getting better but I know it is likely getting worse.

[His hand is out to allow a Tease to step onto his fingertips.] Tyki Mikk. They are mine and if they are chased out they will find ways to get back inside.

[Healing things and dealing with poison is entirely out of Ichigo's realm of experience, but moving people onto more comfortable things than standing around was easy. The lack of the smell of blood at least was reassuring. Open wounds were a bitch.]

That poison shit, huh?

[After a moment Ichigo turns away, heading for the small refrigerator. He'd been restocking it with things he found more appealing than the collection of apples and comes up with a bottle of some sort of juice.

He should ask the kitchen people what it is exactly but he knew it tasted good and that was enough. After a moment it's offered.]

I got aspirin but I don't know if that'd help much.

[The fact that those things kept coming back is probably why all the windows and the door were open. He did what he could but without wanting to squish them, Ichigo's options were limited. To a lot of shooing. It hadn't worked well.]

... Huh. Surprised there aren't more flowers then.

[He's a gentle person so far and that is doing wonders to keep Tyki calm and cheerful in this situation. It's just that with all the pain and his recent tramatization/enchanting he's very wary of most.

It's why when he's finally sitting down he'll push his back all the way against it and lean into it a little lazily. He needs to examine Ichigo now that he's sitting and it doesn't take much to try to examine his soul. He knows a human when he sees one. He always will with how they were the ones at home to be eradicated.]

I don't know what aspirin is, Mister Kurosaki. [Despite his usual gentleman's he is wearing something a bit crisp yet casual.]

It's a small white tablet medication usually for pain relief. Sometimes heart attacks.

[And a whole lot of other stuff he never really bothered paying a lick of attention to, but he was certain of the parts he did.

It takes a moment for the rest to click - the 'Mr. Kurosaki' part. And like pretty much any teenager, that's not something he's keen on being called, that's his dad.]

..And if you don't mind, 'Ichigo' is fine. You might invoke my dad or something.

[Things to avoid: that. Granted it seemed like this place could use another doctor, and a trained shinigami too, but if he's stuck here for a year he'd rather do it without suddenly being donkeykicked out of nowhere.

But taking medicine from strangers might not really be on the top of Tyki's list, especially given apparently some of this poison going around came from the food. That cheeseburger betrayed him!]

..Uh, I've also kind of been guessing about where to put stuff. If I moved anything important, wasn't to piss you off or anything.

Hmm, sounds useful. Does it actually work?

[Because he's willing to try a lot of things at least once. He's not sure if it'll help at all but if it eases the discomfort even a little...

Manners and speech are hard to break but he'll note that Ichigo is one of those that don't appreciate titles.]

I'll try to remember, Ichigo. [Yet he laughs a little sorely with an added cough after.]

I have my bed, the top shelf in the mini refrigerator, a shelf above it, and wherever you find my clothes. Other than that I have no qualms on where you put anything. I'm not especially territorial over anything else.

Yeah.

[Wait.]

..On some stuff anyway. There's other things for stronger pain but maybe it'll ..take some of the edge off. I don't know. Poison's not really my thing.

[But if he wants to give it a try, Ichigo will spend a moment fishing a little tin of aspirin from a pocket and ..then hunt for somewhere to put a tablet that didn't mean getting his fingers all over it and thus maybe GERMS god there were downsides to a medical parent he could just hand it over and--

the tin is offered instead.]

Hey, trying's important even if it doesn't always work, right? I'll keep those spots in mind.

[Because that left a whole lot of OTHER places, and while he didn't have much stuff it didn't seem likely at all that there would be a conflict in space. So for now he's going to take over one of the table's seats, and work on shooing a butterfly out of the way in the doing.

Avoiding those is going to be a little harder.]

...Oh last thing real quick, so you can sleep or rest or whatever you need to do.. do your butterflies need feeding? I didn't see a lot of flowers or a feeder or something.

[And if anything happened to Tyki someone was going to have to find a butterfly bush or some other plant and ..

...Hey that mouthy daisy. He was going to have to find out if that thing liked butterflies.]

Oho, good.

[Even a little just so he could sleep more would be worth it. When the tin is offered he'll allow one to fall into his hand so he can hand it back without touching the others. He doesn't really know how to take it so he assumes it is oral. Either way, it is popped into his mouth with a matter of trust. He's not worried about poison or disease. Fae magic poison was different than normal.

He swallows it with little difficulty and wonders idly how long it'll take to actually kick in. It's a strange thing as his day and age didn't have that kind of medicine. They were still experimenting.]

You have a point. I do have little to no experience with most medical things. If a cure is upon us and hopefully soon I wouldn't mind a little temporary relief until I can shed this heaviness. [On his back he means.]

They don't really need feeding or I should say they don't need to feed regularly. [They kind of eat meat.] So you don't have to worry about that.

..Here, this'll help wash out the flavor.

[The unopened bottle of miscellaneous juice is offered; an aspirin taken dry tended to have LINGERING taste and who the hell ever wanted to deal with that?]

Back home they'd probably suggest some kind of cosmetic surgery. Remove the stone bits like .. those overgrowths people sometimes get with the keratin.

[Ichigo grasps after what the hell it's called, the tree-man illness, but it eludes him. He was a decent student but he wasn't top marks, and remembering everything he'd heard off-hand doesn't.. work.

But people directly stung by the prince were dealing with something kind of vaguely similar as far as he'd heard. Cutting it off and making some grafts in theory would work..]

Maybe that'll be an option if we hit somewhere a little more modern. I wouldn't try it with the magic stuff.

[Bad ideas: that. A note is made about the butterflies, which are eyed. That they're carnivores eludes him, he presumes the butterfly feeder only comes out now and again when needed.]

[He had meant to take that juice earlier when it was offered but he was focused on sitting down, getting comfortable, and then got sidetracked by the aspirin.

He takes it and cracks it open to take a long swig out of it. It's suprising how trusting he's being given how he just met Ichigo. The boy seemed innocent enough and usually he can read a good poker face of someone rather vicious or pulling a fast one on him. Still, there are several long swallows and he manages to empty half the bottle. He finds that more times than not he's really thirsty and ravenous with that poison coursing through him. Water, juice, and easy liquids go down easy. Food is an entirely different monster right now.

He eyes the bottle and lets his thumb roll over the plastic. Again, he's fascinated with how far humans have progressed to even storage bottles like these.] Cosmetic surgery? That's a thing now a days?

[It makes him think of how he could just start to peel that petrification off but seeing as it involved magic he hadn't of thought to try. It's been more than a week now and it was spreading skin deep.]

They are special butterflies. A gift from an Earl that I respect. Having something I don't have to tend to all the time with my usual Lord duties helps. They are kind of fragile and I wouldn't be able to entrust them to just anyone. [He is from 1880-1890s. Lords, Earls, and servants were still something present.] I don't really know much about modern advances so I am little help to them other than samples of my own infliction.

For some, if you're wealthy enough. Or have good insurance.

[It's reasonable, there needs to be a little trust when intending to sleep in the same space as someone else. If Ichigo were a crazy ax murderer, taking a drink he offered isn't nearly as risky as going to sleep around him!

... Thankfully there is no such risk.

However, the revelation he's dealing with a Lord draws Ichigo's eyebrows up sharply. Well, it seems like Tyki could afford that cosmetic surgery after all!]

S' far as I know, most butterflies are fragile.

[A lord. Sadly, Ichigo's not about to begin bowing and scraping, he never did to any other noble houses he encountered, but it did make him wonder why their trailer was less luxurious than the opulence he generally expected from the mega rich.]

....It probably won't help any to say so, but I grew up around all those advances and still don't really know how any of it works. Just that it does, usually. It's worth a shot, if someone doesn't come up with a method here.

[Titles matter little here so he doesn't expect bows and other services he normally would have at home. At the mention of wealth he does seem to perk small and he'll scratch at his cheek before taking another drink of that juice just to ease his throat from all the coughing he's been doing. Plus, the juice will taste better coming back up if he eats too heavy again.

His Tease would alert him far in advance if Ichigo smelled like anything like blood or similar to it. Not to mention they were a temporary measure in case of an attack while he was sleeping. Normally his power would be absolute but here in carnival he was heavily handicapped.]

You have a point, Ichigo. Most are.

[He allows one to rest on his fingertips as he moves them and it'll methodically open and close its wings as if waiting for something.]

I, for one, don't need to know how it works as much as how to work it. I might look into a couple of things later. I do already enjoy the hot showers that don't have to be drawn and heated manually. There is also neat methods of keeping food cold like this tiny ice box we have. [He's referring to the fridge.]
