HOME GROUND↴![]() At long last, it is over. The Prince is dead, and all of his stolen Names have been restored - all that's left to do is treat the wounds and move on. For the first day or two, the Ringmaster will be arranging passage for the servants that are left, all of which have remembered their names for the first time in years. The earth elemental that had been trapped and forced to serve as the Prince's manor, the Heart of Stone, is happy to help for the moment. It appreciates the Ringmaster's mercy, and is free after untold eons of imprisonment. Yet, there are plenty of aspects that are far from simple. There are still servants left mad and transformed into beasts, with no easy way to change them back. The Prince's spells outlive him, and those bearing his poison and his curses will have a difficult road ahead of them. Though most of the bestial servants have been rounded up, and a large number that had been reduced to unmoving statues returned, even the Ringmaster can't return them to normal so simply. The next week is for rest and for settling remaining affairs. If you want to bid farewell to any particular NPCs, or assure care is given where it's needed, now is the time to do it. ► A CURE: The Ringmaster will tell everyone simply - there is no simple way to undo another fae's magic. The Prince's powers were essentially on par with hers, which means that those who have been transformed to stone and those that were cursed into beasts and driven insane are not something she can trivially fix. It will take the work of the carnival and a couple weeks of treatment to shed the curse of stone, and the maddened servants are an entirely separate matter. She will do what she can, but for the most part she is arranging for the Prince's servants to be cared for elsewhere. At least for now, the Ringmaster will be animating the stone portions of people's bodies with magic, though those portions will still be a bit clumsy and numb feeling. ► THE NEW HEARTSTONE: In the absence of the prince, the Heart of Stone will be taking over the remains of the Prince's realm and preventing it from collapsing into void. As it turns out, the manor had been an earth elemental all along - a form of Wyld Fae almost on par to the Prince and Ringmaster themselves. How the Heart of Stone was enslaved is a long story presumably, but the Ringmaster considers it to be a sign of the Prince's own depravity. The Heart will be allowing visitors for the first couple days of this period through the portal, but keep in mind you are essentially just walking around on its body. At least the realm has a floor, now, instead an endless abyss surrounding it. |

He just follows along, a little distance behind, to wait patiently... As she does, indeed, uncover a friend! With an explanation for his disappearing act.]
There is a big but! [Papyrus huffs and shakes his head.] Sans was being it, because he was upset and scared for me...
[Okay, maybe he shouldn't have called his brother a butt. Wow, his temper is frayed in ways he hasn't realized. Papyrus quickly coughs an -ahem- and moves on.] Anyway, consider it revoked! He doesn't get to decide that stuff. And I want to see you!
no subject
........Why would he be scared, people aren't supposed to hurt each other here anyway.... [She's not going to go with the other obvious part where one is a flower. Who knows what kind of power a travelling flower has.]
no subject
"The moment before the Prince shattered into dust, the Ringmaster gave him a deal."
That wasn't the truth. The truth was... [ He takes a deep breath as if he has lungs, shudders slightly, and looks at Reira in the face. ] I did shatter into dust. I became a flower, and someone injected me with the will to live, but I didn't have a soul. Because I couldn't feel love or empathy, I became a... really bad person. I had the power to reset, and I used it for bad things.
When the Ringmaster finally took me in, it was when everyone had a happy ending. I agreed to sign in exchange for getting my soul back, but as a caveat, I had to gain those emotions one by one.
Understand?

Just a quick answer for Reira, and back he goes back to lingering:]
You could say we're friends, from before the carnival.
[Whether they are friends is a little harder to pin down. Can you really call it a friendship if it's one-sided, or if the two sides are a little mixed up in time? Who knows.]
no subject
...If you're both friends, which name is better, then? [she adds; which name has to be secret?
Regardless of the answer, she continues after it.] ..........When you told the story....I said it reminded me of someone, right? ....That's because....they did something really wrong. Something that hurt a lot of people. ....You didn't say who the 'Prince' was, but....
....I thought....if someone doesn't have feelings anymore, then something bad happened. And....if someone has to keep it secret, until they get their feelings back.... ....then, probably, a really big mistake happened.
...but....what's important, I don't think, is what kind of mistake that was. ...People can't change what happened. Not like that, I don't think. ....So...
....I guess I already knew you did 'something'. ....But that doesn't mean we can't be friends, to me at least. And.... [She looks back to Papyrus.] ...........With what you're feeling............ ......it's probably the same, right?
[The decision to still be friends, that is.]
....umh....the power to reset, though... ....is...that like the cards I told you about, in my story? ....Did...people forget things, and change, when that happened..?
no subject
[ He shakes his head, feeling like coming out and admitting this was a necessary mistake, especially to someone like Reira. He didn't know how to further explain. ]
Once I was dead, it was like, my heart passed on but my mind and this body didn't.
[ He glances over to Papyrus with a slight laugh. ]
-- You know he'll be mad, right? Even though it'll make him mad, it makes me happy to hear you say that. I wanted to say I remembered how to prove myself. If you ask the ringmaster about my wish... and Alphys what happened to one of her flowers when she injected it with determination, you'll have the proof. Both of you.
no subject
I know he'll be mad. But, he already knows I'm going to. So nobody's getting an unpleasant surprise. Another one.
[No offence, Fl-Asriel. He still wants to be friends, of course! But that was pretty unpleasant all around. And, with Asriel wanting to be friends too, friendship is going to happen. Somehow. It's a nice accomplishment for the day.]
I'll swing around and ask her. It's a good excuse to talk to her more!
[Maybe not the best topic, since it might make her alarmed, and upset, and secretive. But he can be friendly and persistent with the best of them, and hopefully persuasive.]
...Hey, Alphys made your flower alive, right? Does that make Alphys, like... your secret second science mom?
no subject
...That's good. ...Asriel is a nice name, I think. [But....on that note.] Um....
....Do you mean...proving that you have to get your feelings back? [She asks, looking to Papyrus.] ....He doesn't have a lot of them, yet, if that's what you need to know.
[It probably wasn't, but heck if she realizes that. Science moms...though...] .....I think that's something that she has to pick, though... [Alphys was that lizard lady right? She thinks she saw her in Greysol....]
no subject
[ Ouch, nevermind. He continues to listen to Papyrus talk about Alphys. Learning that her experiment, the one and only flower to take on determination had been the only flower to bloom after the prince's death, containing his dust, would be... nightmarish. But also kind of good? I mean, he's alive and he's atoning for what a jerk he was, right? And reforming his soul slowly was his penance. ]
But, er... I bet she's more of my second 'creator', if you put it that way.
[ He turns his attention to Reira. ] ... yeah. She's right. I only have about eight, and someone has to do or say the right thing to bring them out. Complicated, right? [ weak laughter ] I... I guess they're all working the most to make me kind of scared right now. I don't think I have more than one good feeling. It's really easy to go back to my usual self, and a lot of me wants to.
Like, as a front, you know?
And the rest of me just wants more happy feelings.
no subject
I can hardly imagine having no emotions at all... but having only some seems especially difficult! Won't feeling scared make it hard to do anything but feel more scared? You probably shouldn't say that part to Sans...
[He shrugs at their agreement that creation doesn't make Alphys a mom, since there probably is more to it than he's familiar with... But it's a bit of a shame, wouldn't having a parental-figure help Asriel to feel a whole lot of not-sad/fear things?]
And it's twice as clear to me now, you need to feel happy things! Like... what are some good feelings.
[Wait, Reira demonstrated just a few minutes ago.]
Receiving... a welcome surprise and gift? Fl-Asriel, would you like a hug too?
no subject
But Asriel does, for that unfortunate reason, have a point.] ...there was only one good one so far, it's true... 'Kinship', [she notes, chewing her lip.] ...Since I can feel when a feeling is trying to appear, I've been trying to help but...
It's still sort of hard... [Surprise presents might help, she thinks, but it's not really a surprise if you talk about it. So she holds off from addressing That, for now. Instead.] Um! Make sure you're careful, because otherwise the hug won't be nice!
[Thanks Reira.]
no subject
At first he feels NO, he doesn't need your sympathy, he knows what he did, but also, in that same beat, he remembers Frisk comforting him. If he felt anything as strongly as he did then... it was that. Maybe it was certain to trigger something? A memory, a feeling... ]
A hug is fine. Don't worry, Reira, my stem won't break that easily. I should know.
[ He looks back to Papyrus. ]
Well? I guess... make me blue?
no subject
[What a notion, that one of his hugs might hurt.
Though... maybe she just means surprise would be less good than happiness? But a hug is the best gift he can offer right now. He only came prepared with one gift-wrapped bone... and he hasn't made any spaghetti in ages (he's already doing enough cleaning, without exploding the kitchen a little bit). So that leaves his gift-giving options a little limited, on such short notice.]
You've probably felt this part before, so... I won't make a show of it.
[He'd like to, because the blue bone trick is fun stuff! But, not right now. With Reira, he figured the blue attack alone would be surprise enough, as unused to magic as she seems to be... and with Fl-Asriel? Well, if he's fought Sans before... That really might not be a fun surprise. Hopefully it's not a disappointment.
Ping.]
no subject
Reira watches, silently, at the exchange however. Something is definitely whispering...maybe a few somethings.
But she wants to see which one 'wins' before she notes as much, lest the chance run away.]
no subject
It's not forgiveness. It will be a while before he truly feels forgiveness. What's important now is that these people believe in him, despite everything he's done, they want him around. Asriel doesn't have guilt back but he can miss something so powerfully he knows it was his fault it's gone.
So here are two people, one who went through something similar, another who was Flowey's victim... who didn't care about what was in the past. Who believed his retelling of what happened. They both did (or so he thinks)...
... and they should, because it's the truth. Something grows bolder. He wasn't lying, he was telling the truth! He's not in doubt about who Flowey and Asriel are-- they're one in the same! And everything that happened to him, down to the last detail, was true, no matter if they could prove it or not!
Once Papyrus finally hugs him, or, if Flowey goes in for it himself, he will have learned affirmation ]
no subject
The thing about giving hugs is, normally, you're working with a torso that's at least a foot in circumference. At least enough to bend an elbow around, and touch. Sure, with a skeleton you run into difficulties if you try to hug at spine-level... which is why you go with the ribcage instead!
This isn't an option here.
He settles for offering an arm for Flowey's roots to rest on, and cups a hand around the back of his flowerhead, and pulls the flower to his shoulder.]
Well! Does this work? A hug should be high in squeezability, low in strangulation, and feel like affection. Just holding your stem just seems... Not done.
no subject
Somehow.] ....It's not 'happy', but.... ....That one's nice, [Reira eventually says aloud.]
no subject
He's Asriel. That was both good and bad. That meant he truly remembered all the good times with his mom, dad, and Chara... but he also remembered that his sibling manipulated him into keeping his self-afflicted death a secret, then used his own body to try to kill hundreds of innocent people. 'Chara despised humanity'. And eventually, that despicable behavior was all that Asriel could cling to.
Asriel.
Not some dumb name to make him look innocent. ]
Don't overstay your welcome, Pap.
[ ... a very sassy Asriel who isn't used to hugs like this, but an Asriel nonetheless. ]
no subject
Papyrus grins and laughs, buoyed by this success, and even by Fl- Asriel's playful meanness.]
If I'm overstaying it... Just say the word! And I can head off.
[Rather than float the flower to the ground, Papyrus kneels down to offer a direct arm-to-surface approach. After all, he might just be tsundere about the hug, and this gives him a minute to front and protest and prolong it if he likes.]
I do still mean to try that obstacle course...
no subject
no subject
... What kind of Death March?
no subject
[Well. The human never used it, and then he disassembled it so nobody would use it in his time as king.]
With ... no marching at all? [Papyrus turns to look over the obstacle course, the way one must jump and twist to get through it.] Really, it's a strange name. But I don't judge a puzzle by its name!

Gauntlet of Terror is a classic name... [And thus given a free pass from etymological criticism.]
But yeah! Let's all do it! Just watch out for the lasers and fire.
