HOME GROUND↴![]() At long last, it is over. The Prince is dead, and all of his stolen Names have been restored - all that's left to do is treat the wounds and move on. For the first day or two, the Ringmaster will be arranging passage for the servants that are left, all of which have remembered their names for the first time in years. The earth elemental that had been trapped and forced to serve as the Prince's manor, the Heart of Stone, is happy to help for the moment. It appreciates the Ringmaster's mercy, and is free after untold eons of imprisonment. Yet, there are plenty of aspects that are far from simple. There are still servants left mad and transformed into beasts, with no easy way to change them back. The Prince's spells outlive him, and those bearing his poison and his curses will have a difficult road ahead of them. Though most of the bestial servants have been rounded up, and a large number that had been reduced to unmoving statues returned, even the Ringmaster can't return them to normal so simply. The next week is for rest and for settling remaining affairs. If you want to bid farewell to any particular NPCs, or assure care is given where it's needed, now is the time to do it. ► A CURE: The Ringmaster will tell everyone simply - there is no simple way to undo another fae's magic. The Prince's powers were essentially on par with hers, which means that those who have been transformed to stone and those that were cursed into beasts and driven insane are not something she can trivially fix. It will take the work of the carnival and a couple weeks of treatment to shed the curse of stone, and the maddened servants are an entirely separate matter. She will do what she can, but for the most part she is arranging for the Prince's servants to be cared for elsewhere. At least for now, the Ringmaster will be animating the stone portions of people's bodies with magic, though those portions will still be a bit clumsy and numb feeling. ► THE NEW HEARTSTONE: In the absence of the prince, the Heart of Stone will be taking over the remains of the Prince's realm and preventing it from collapsing into void. As it turns out, the manor had been an earth elemental all along - a form of Wyld Fae almost on par to the Prince and Ringmaster themselves. How the Heart of Stone was enslaved is a long story presumably, but the Ringmaster considers it to be a sign of the Prince's own depravity. The Heart will be allowing visitors for the first couple days of this period through the portal, but keep in mind you are essentially just walking around on its body. At least the realm has a floor, now, instead an endless abyss surrounding it. |

Joker keeps his wing there, unmoving, and listens quietly to Tyki's bitterness. "Well," he says slowly, careful and slow, "s'not quite true." Oh, he can't deny that the good ol' Fair Folk are more powerful than most things and people. Anything that can toy around with reality at is will... Yeah. Still... His fingers tap along the ground, just as slow as his words. "But the other choices are usually a good deal more risky. We won't get much there while we're still workin' under the Ringmaster. Decidin' who we align with, that's the easier and safe choice."

He knows he has to be one of the strongest and most capable person here in carnival. His power was unique and dangerous. Even someone as the Warden had to have some powers capable of backing up the job he was required to have. Both of them had easily succumbed to being captured and enchanted after days of starving, restlessness, and the waiting. Normally such mental trauma wouldn't have easily broken him.
"I'll listen now," is all that he can think to say. He has a higher appreciation for the Ringmaster now after what he's endured under the Prince.

Even if she is absolutely ridiculous most of the time.
For now, all that's been able to be said has been, and Joker figures they shouldn't dwell on it even if he feels like shit. So instead he says, "What are ya gonna do when ya get sober?" That is to say, when they've been cured of the poison weighing them down.

Despite her putting them all in danger that was his choice to leave his room. He can't entirely blame her for that. As human as she acts sometimes he knows she's nowhere close to being one or even acting like one.
He does feel a little better getting some of that off his chest. Now he just wishes he could get this pain off his back, "Return to normal, I suppose. Prepare for the next trip, the next performance. Sleep more?" Or so he thinks.

But that's besides the point. "But after." He humans a little. "Think I'm gonna eat all the garbage I like. Have ya ever heard of chili?"
no subject
Reflexively he's always dodging questions, "It doesn't really ring a bell." Even if there is a possibility he's had some poor mans version as a hobo.
no subject
"I'm gonna make that and eat it. Not even care how mess it is."
A pause.
"Alright, that's a lie. But I'll wear clothes that I don't care about getting messy." That's better. Something messy, and spicy, and which would be utterly out of place on the Prince's table. There's other foods that would fit the bill too, he's sure, but he'll think of them after he's poison-free.

He winks at Joker with a geniune smile, "Get too messy and I can just cheat. Wouldn't be hard to remove a messy stain from a shirt or two." He had removed blood from worse.
no subject
"I'm sure we can come up with all sorts of stuff. Maybe even ask around for recipes, yeah?"
no subject
"Alright then. That's what we'll do. Make a day of it." He's trying to be cheery like he usually is but that wide smile fades after a minute or two to a small one.

Glancing to the side, he watches as Tyki's smile shifts. "Ah. But later, I suppose." There's at least later. "Want ta go back in the water, or just hear me goin' on? I can do that forever." Actually, he thinks he'd rather just lay face down on the floor, but hey.
no subject
"I don't want to impose more than I already have," he begins despite how nice and caring Joker has been, "The water is just... quiet." He looks up towards the netting above and imagines how cozy that could be too, "That's good sometimes."
no subject
"Either way, I'm around," he finishes simply.
no subject
"I know," he responds with that belief that Joker will be around if he needs him, "I'll come up to that bird nest you have made for yourself later..." The more he thinks about it, the more the water tank does sound better for the moment. He's still kind of isolating himself.
no subject
That means he has plenty of time to just lay right where he is, perfectly at home, for a nice long while, and only eventually gets up to return to his nest.
no subject
He's stiff to move and will wave over his shoulder with a light gesture as he heads back towards that tank. In passing he'll pat Feathers just to be considerate. He's so tired and he doesn't feel like talking anymore.
