MOON WALKING↴![]() The journey to the moon only takes a blink of an eye, but it leaves the carnival far away beneath you. The second moon can be seen on the peripheral, massive compared to its usual view. At least when the holidays start out, there will be no notable wildlife on the moon, though this is something you can talk to the Ringmaster about if you think it needs a change. It sounds like this is the first time she's used it in quite a while - it probably needs some dusting off! Claim your cabins, and proceed to... well, do whatever you want! There is no rush and little obligation, besides to enjoy yourself. For real, this time. She promises there will be no vampires. Or, at least, none that don't already work for the carnival. ► CABINS: Living arrangements are character choice for this event, and there are a variety of cabins of various sizes, mostly built to house 2-6 people, though you can fit more in if you squish. They are all made of wood and of a rustic design - no fancy modern furniture, here! Each building is housed with a fireplace and the needed amenities. You can pick up materials to cook with the private kitchens if you like. Theoretically, you could spend the whole holiday sequestered away, watching the snow fall. Some of them also have outdoor hot tubs available! ► ACTIVITIES: Activities are mostly going to be character driven, though there will be some large group games like bingo and maybe a poker tournament happening at some point in one of the festival halls. Otherwise, there is a lot to offer: skiing, snowboarding, hiking, ice sculpting, snowball fights - it goes on! If you'd like to run a winter activity, just let the mods know, and we will get the word out there for you. ► FEASTING: Every day isn't a full-out feast because that would get a bit unhealthy, but there will be a number of specific feast events over the holidays where everyone is encouraged to let out their inner hedonist and stuff themselves. There will be one big feast per week, with smaller but also delicious meals offered in between. The feast dates will be B12, B18, and B24. There's also plenty of alcohol available for anyone who wants it. ► SHOPPING: As mentioned in the planning post, there is a massive market being run by the World Walker Caravan! The Ringmaster has given everyone 1250 credits to spend on items, but there is a caveat - must spend at least 500 of those credits on gifts for other people. And it better be a good one, if you only buy one! (She will ask that you do not buy her presents, however. She appreciates the sentiment, but it seems sort of silly buying her things with her own money! If you'd like to gift her, please have it be something more personal or handmade, but you are not obligated to get her anything at all.) ► TREATMENTS: The beginning of the holidays will also be about the time that the emergency Medical Team will have finalized their treatments for the Prince's poisoning. Watch out for further information on that - and make sure to get treated if you are suffering from petrification or poison induced illness! The holidays will be a lot more fun that way. |

Well, let's go ahead and get started then!

Depending on the fabric, we'll want a particular stitch around the ends, so....hmmm....
no subject
Wisely, Strange keeps his question to himself (there's more than one kind of stitch?!) but he holds out the fabric so that Carly can get a good look at it. ]
For thread colors, either a white, red, or black would be good. No blues or greens, that wouldn't go well at all with the fur of who I'm making this for.
no subject
H-Hey, is this for that really BIG pokemon, maybe? [Baker is, At this point, the only one she's able to immediately think of as 'Furry, clashes with blue and green'.] ...Or is it someone else...
[She is, at least, inspecting the fabric though.] Mmm, we can use a pretty simple stitch here...Blanket stitch, actually~ [Oh Hah Hah, Carly!]

It's for the dog—his name's Baker. I know the thing's naturally warm but who knows, perhaps he wants to cuddle up occasionally.
[ He just nods as Carly mentions the blanket stitch. Strange has absolutely no clue what the heck that is, but okay! Blanket stitch! That sounds like it could be useful, what with the whole 'blanket' thing. ]
no subject
[She gestures to the sewing machine.] First, we need to line the fabric up properly, while folding the edges...like this, [She demonstrates, sliding it in. The sewing machine presses down, but she moves to the remaining blanket for the fold.] It's easiest to use pins to hold this sort of thing in place, and just remove them as you go...that way things can stay even.
no subject
Are there rulers in here somewhere? That would help with keeping it even to begin with.
[ Of course, Strange is absolutely certain that he could find a way to keep everything even if worst came to worst and he had to eyeball it. But he won't turn his nose up at a little bit of help, especially since this is his first time doing something like this. ]
no subject
[She will, rather automatically, stretch out one birdy foot to a nearby drawer, and use it to pull out some measuring tape.] We use this! That way it can fold with the fabric if we need, and if there's excess, it won't be in our way.
no subject
That's a good idea, [ he admits, with a nod. ] So, shall we start?
no subject
[And as soon as he's ready, that sewing machine is going to churn, humming quietly and clicking for each stitch as it punctures through the fabric, Carly pulling the measuring tape and pins around as things go.]
no subject
Oh good Lord, feet are involved as well? ]
What's the foot thing? [ he asks, as he looks up and oh right, he's supposed to be watching her sew. ]
no subject
....Hey, did you drive in Portland? [She needs to know that she can liken this to a gas pedal and have it not fly over your head, see.]
no subject
You push down on the foot pedal to make it work!
[ alright, so he didn't drive a lot in Portland and the memories are a bit hazy. Still, 'it goes when you push it' isn't wrong. ]
no subject
Like that~ [she announces, abruptly doing so. She does put it back on though, holding a slow pace for the sake of the lesson.] Just a slight push is all it takes to get it going as much as you need...
no subject
I think I've got it! [ Strange exclaims, with a grin, not realizing that he's probably going to make a hash of the first few inches. ] Let me try the next bit, alright? Is there anything else?
no subject
[Now then-she'll switch over from the blanket, to a bit of tester scrap.] Ok~! All yours~!
no subject
Taking the test fabric, Strange folds it under and sets it under the sewing machine, mimicing what he saw Carly do. Fortunately for everyone involved, once he starts stitching, he's actually doing a halfway decent job and the stitches are actually going through. The main problem is that Strange is rushing through the stitches in a bit too fast manner and his lines are going everywhere: this stitch isn't even close to straight: and when he notices that, he overcorrects, leaving the wonkiest, most crooked stitch Carly's seen in a while. ]
Out of curiosity, how do you remove a stitch if you feel it wasn't your best work?
[ even Jonathan "I can do anything" Strange has noticed that these stitches kind of suck. ]
no subject
[Shoot.] Mmmm. For this, we would have to use a stitch ripper... ...but more importantly, this is why we have practice fabric!!
You were doing really well, for the start-it was a good speed, too. Keep in mind that you have time..! Even at a slow pace, this won't take really long, and time means you can be careful..!
Umm... [Hold on while she gets the little ripper out though, and starts cutting through threads.] Here though- like this. From here, you can just pull the threads and...try again.
...It only works a few times, and on stronger fabrics, but that's how it goes..!
no subject
Strange can't help but give Carly a little 'okay, sure' skeptical little frown. This is a man who charges through things and barely takes anything slow to begin with: taking this slow is going to be a major challenge. ]
Can I borrow that thing when I'm making the actual blanket? Just in case I make a mistake, of course.
no subject
A stitch ripper is your last resort. We can't use it a lot..!
[She has no idea just how little a mistake Strange would want to attack with this ripper, and would really rather he not ruin his own gift.]
no subject
[ Strange is unintentionally digging in his heels a bit, as he looks at the stitch ripper. Of course he's going to try and make this thing as best as possible, but the fact remains that this is literally the first time he's ever sewed. That stitch ripper looks like it would be a useful thing for the process. ]
no subject
You don't have a lot of chances with this thing..! So you need to trust me when I say just how much you need to make sure you don't need it..! You'll ruin your fabric otherwise..!
