MOON WALKING↴

The journey to the moon only takes a blink of an eye, but it leaves the carnival far away beneath you. The second moon can be seen on the peripheral, massive compared to its usual view. At least when the holidays start out, there will be no notable wildlife on the moon, though this is something you can talk to the Ringmaster about if you think it needs a change. It sounds like this is the first time she's used it in quite a while - it probably needs some dusting off!

Claim your cabins, and proceed to... well, do whatever you want! There is no rush and little obligation, besides to enjoy yourself. For real, this time. She promises there will be no vampires. Or, at least, none that don't already work for the carnival.

► CABINS: Living arrangements are character choice for this event, and there are a variety of cabins of various sizes, mostly built to house 2-6 people, though you can fit more in if you squish. They are all made of wood and of a rustic design - no fancy modern furniture, here! Each building is housed with a fireplace and the needed amenities. You can pick up materials to cook with the private kitchens if you like. Theoretically, you could spend the whole holiday sequestered away, watching the snow fall. Some of them also have outdoor hot tubs available!

► ACTIVITIES: Activities are mostly going to be character driven, though there will be some large group games like bingo and maybe a poker tournament happening at some point in one of the festival halls. Otherwise, there is a lot to offer: skiing, snowboarding, hiking, ice sculpting, snowball fights - it goes on! If you'd like to run a winter activity, just let the mods know, and we will get the word out there for you.

► FEASTING: Every day isn't a full-out feast because that would get a bit unhealthy, but there will be a number of specific feast events over the holidays where everyone is encouraged to let out their inner hedonist and stuff themselves. There will be one big feast per week, with smaller but also delicious meals offered in between. The feast dates will be B12, B18, and B24. There's also plenty of alcohol available for anyone who wants it.

► SHOPPING: As mentioned in the planning post, there is a massive market being run by the World Walker Caravan! The Ringmaster has given everyone 1250 credits to spend on items, but there is a caveat - must spend at least 500 of those credits on gifts for other people. And it better be a good one, if you only buy one! (She will ask that you do not buy her presents, however. She appreciates the sentiment, but it seems sort of silly buying her things with her own money! If you'd like to gift her, please have it be something more personal or handmade, but you are not obligated to get her anything at all.)

► TREATMENTS: The beginning of the holidays will also be about the time that the emergency Medical Team will have finalized their treatments for the Prince's poisoning. Watch out for further information on that - and make sure to get treated if you are suffering from petrification or poison induced illness! The holidays will be a lot more fun that way.

Ugh, her world too? 9S' expression turns into disgust. "Seriously? Yours as well?"

See? Aliens are always the worst!!

"In our case, the aliens created the machine lifeforms. The machines killed their creators," this is supposed to be classified information, but after learning the truth, 9S can't find it in him to care about keeping YoRHa's secrets, "and have been a real pest ever since."

"Yeeaaahh... though it didn't work in my world, 'cuz there were other alien robots stopping 'em." She shrugs, as if that's a completely normal thing to happen. That's just how it goes sometimes.

"Seriously?" She makes a face. "That sucks. For, y'know, the aliens and Earth."

Other alien robots stopping the alien robots? Good. They can fight and wipe each other out.

"Yeah, well, the aliens started it, invading us and everything. So they deserve what they got."

Harsh? Who cares! The aliens were the enemy, and if the machines are reflections of their creators, then they were hardly even sapient.

9S, it's probably best that you don't voice that thought.

"...Y'know I guess that's fair."

Then she adds, "Wait, hang on - so, the aliens invaded you, and made the machines, then the machines killed the aliens and just kept doing the thing the aliens were doing? Were they just that into taking over Earth?"

Naw.

9S waves a hand dismissively. "The machines aren't complex enough to have anything like free will. They hardly have emotions. They might say words, but they're just mimicking old human data."

He says it confidently, as if he believes it's true. But, he wonders...

Contempt lines his voice when he adds, "There isn't any meaning to what they do."

"Really? Huh." Miko frowns, tilting her head slightly. She guesses that's fair; after all, it does seem like these robots were pretty different from the Cybertronians, seeing as how they were... y'know, made by aliens instead of just being fully living aliens in their own right and all that.

"So, if they already did the taking over the planet thing... what are they doing now? Like, if that was all they were programmed for." Honestly, that sounds pretty boring. Just a bunch of alien robots hanging around and not doing anything.

...Okay no alien robots are never boring (unless they're Ratchet), but anyway.

9S scoffs. "Picking fights with us."

Well, it's more accurate that the androids have been picking fights with the machines; a lot of machines had been non hostile. Just staring into space. It was pretty weird.

But humans and androids had been on Earth first!

"We can't let the machines keep the planet. The humans deserve to return to their homes on Earth."

"...Y'know, that makes sense. How much progress have you guys made on the whole takin' back Earth thing?"

Well, about that...

9S kicks at the snow. "We're working on it, alright?"

It's only been a few thousand years since the first of the machine wars began.

"Now that us YoRHa are deployed, we'll be able to make some real progress." He grins, pride blooming in his voice. "My partner and I took out several goliath class machines on our first mission together."

Sooo she'll take that to mean... none. Saying as much seems like it wouldn't go over well, though.

"Goliath class? Really?" Her ears perk up excitedly at that description. She has no idea what exactly it means, of course, but it sounds pretty fuckin' cool. "Who's your partner?"

Yeah. Yeah......

At the interest in his partner, 9S can't help the giddy grin on his face. "Her name's 2B. She's a combat model and really good at it. Waaay better than the standard combat model."

Unusually better, which was something he observed and noted. Now he knows why. And with the dire situation back home... 9S forces himself to keep his smile.

"She's kind of reckless though. I can't tell if it's a combat model thing or just her."

"Aw man, no way... she sounds super cool!" Miko bounces a little in place, her grin staying bright and excited.

"I bet that could totally just be a combat thing - it seems like that'd be good for fighting, right? Y'won't end up hesitating or anything!"

Of course Miko thinks recklessness seems like an ideal trait for a combatant.
