What: The carnival arrives at book world. First week, they'll be performing for magical manifestations of book characters. Second week, it's time to hunt (for books, in the library.) Around Day 58 some stuff will occur.

FAERIE TALES↴

Though the carnival will be performing for its guests in the first week, they are welcome to search the Athenaeum while they are off duty during that time. The manifestations of story characters will be out in full force during performance week, with animals, people, objects, and even locations growing out from various tales. Most are distracting at worst, and will be curious to check out the carnival. Some, however, can be as dangerous as they were in their stories of origin. You know what to do.

► IT'S TIME TO ROLEPLAY: The best way to deal with book ghosts is to follow their narrative to its logical conclusion - turn the tables, work the story so it ends in your favour! Naturalistic and narratively satisfying plotting will have the manifestations following your lead. However, push too hard and introduce too many plot holes, inconsistencies, or illogical plot twists, and they will reject your reality utterly, becoming quite aggressive in the process. You can also use your natural abilities and powers to fight them in a traditional sense, but in the Ringmaster's experience, it's best to fight reality benders by bending reality right back at them. If you aren't careful, it's possible to be dragged fully into a story's reality, and then things get really messed up.

► IT'S ALSO TIME TO READ: The carnival came here for a purpose, and that purpose is to research. Specifically, the Ringmaster is looking for information on the Queen's Miracles - the set of ancient fae artifacts that the Blue Rose is one of. The carnival needs these artifacts to defend itself, but nobody knows where they've been for thousands of years. That's what the books are for. However, nothing is stopping you from pursuing knowledge for personal reasons. The halls are open to your perusal, and only your heart can guide you to the book you truly seek. "Mnh- Right...we're supposed to find books about 'miracles'..." Or, the 'Queen's Miracles', or whatever they are... ...They don't have a lot to go on, that much is certain.

"...It's hard when there's only the two things they do, but I guess it's something to help look..."

Wait, only two things? Strange frowns a little as he looks over at Reira. Right...she didn't see the Prince get blasted to hell and back with the Blue Rose, did she.

"The Miracles can do a lot more than their name," Strange points out, with a wry little smile. "When Syrlya held the Blue Rose, he was able to turn it into a sword. I'm certain that with enough study, we could figure out how to use the magic to do other things as well."

Oh no. Oh NO-

"But if they can do more things, how are we supposed to find them first..!? It's already hard to know if it's the right 'Sun and Shade', or...or-"

"Wood-Rot"

...Yeah. "...That one."

"That's what the research is for," said in a 'well duh' sort of tone of voice. Why were they here Reira, to try and find out things about the Miracles so that they'll know what to look for later.

"This library doesn't work like normal libraries." What with the whole 'use your heart to search what you're looking for' thing. That's silly, use a proper classification system. "I'm certain if we look long enough, we'll find something of use. And then, we use that something to search and find another useful thing, and so on and so forth."

Reira, suffice to say, is pouting. Not because Strange is Wrong, but. Well. More because he's technically right.

She doesn't like this.

Her Daemon agrees with her, but is a bit more bold about it. "Then you have discovered..?"

Rather-have YOU found anything yet then, Strange?? HUH!! ~~well eventually yes, so he's still right kid-~~

"Nothing at the moment," Strange admits, with a little frown. "But we've still got around a week and a half left. I'm certain I'll find something eventually."

He's only certain because Strange has ego for days. Of course Strange is going to find something, why wouldn't he, that'd be silly.

...Okay. That's fair, she supposes, and a shared look with her daemon notes that they are going to have to Accept Defeat here.

So- "...Umh...I guess I'll keep looking then," she decides, sounding a little lost about it. Her daemon turns, already set to start doing that. "...Good luck?"

Oh. Okay then? Strange looks a little confused at Reira deciding to leave but hey, if she wants to head out, then he's not going to stop her. There's still plenty of books here that Strange wants to read and really can't while having conversation.

"Good luck to you as well. And if you don't find anything of use, I hope you at least find something fun to read."

"Mnh-! Yeah-!" Well, it certainly looks like she's leaving-the daemon only goes so far however, and Reira herself stops...about 4, 5 feet away.

Naturally, the entire idea was that they'd just be reading though so not long after, she's pulling a book down and taking a seat.
