What: The carnival arrives at book world. First week, they'll be performing for magical manifestations of book characters. Second week, it's time to hunt (for books, in the library.) Around Day 58 some stuff will occur.
Warnings: Reading is mandatory.

FAERIE TALES↴ Though the carnival will be performing for its guests in the first week, they are welcome to search the Athenaeum while they are off duty during that time. The manifestations of story characters will be out in full force during performance week, with animals, people, objects, and even locations growing out from various tales. Most are distracting at worst, and will be curious to check out the carnival. Some, however, can be as dangerous as they were in their stories of origin. You know what to do. ► IT'S TIME TO ROLEPLAY: The best way to deal with book ghosts is to follow their narrative to its logical conclusion - turn the tables, work the story so it ends in your favour! Naturalistic and narratively satisfying plotting will have the manifestations following your lead. However, push too hard and introduce too many plot holes, inconsistencies, or illogical plot twists, and they will reject your reality utterly, becoming quite aggressive in the process. You can also use your natural abilities and powers to fight them in a traditional sense, but in the Ringmaster's experience, it's best to fight reality benders by bending reality right back at them. If you aren't careful, it's possible to be dragged fully into a story's reality, and then things get really messed up. ► IT'S ALSO TIME TO READ: The carnival came here for a purpose, and that purpose is to research. Specifically, the Ringmaster is looking for information on the Queen's Miracles - the set of ancient fae artifacts that the Blue Rose is one of. The carnival needs these artifacts to defend itself, but nobody knows where they've been for thousands of years. That's what the books are for. However, nothing is stopping you from pursuing knowledge for personal reasons. The halls are open to your perusal, and only your heart can guide you to the book you truly seek. [The teen hangs onto Carly's every word with as much interest as a child listening to a bedtime story being told by a parent.

However the entire war of that day went down, Yugo can assume enough that since the Earthbound Gods are supposed to be the soul-eating bad guys, sealing them beneath the earth was a suitable victory for the Crimson Dragon.]

And then the dragons left after they beat the Earthbound Gods?

Right! Or at least as many as they could. I...think the time before me, one of them was pulled down with the gods..?

...The most I know is Aslla didn't do it, and he was jealous, actually...

[Five apparently went down in legend. But does that mean there used to be six? Not that Yugo is familiar with any of them.]

Do you know what the names of all the Signer Dragons are?

I do, actually~ [Yuusei is Helpful in this case.]

Ancient Fairy Dragon, Stardust Dragon, Black Rose Dragon, Red Daemon's Dragon...and...ah.

Hmm. [She crosses her arms.] ...I think in the last battle, Aslla mentioned that they captured one, but killed another... ...which sounds right, because when Yuusei told me about 'Black-Feather Dragon', it didn't seem right at all..!

[Which is interesting, but Yugo's thoughts cling onto a different member of the Signer Dragons.]

... Red Daemon's Dragon- that one's now with the Jack you know right?

Yeah! It felt that way...I mean, I only know bits and pieces from Yuusei in this case, but I guess the Signer marks...moved around or something?

Ah-! But that's right~ That's Jack's dragon~!

I've never heard of Jack using that dragon back home though... It was always "Red Daemon's Dragon Scarlight".

[Very big difference.]

And if anyone was somehow good enough to survive that, then we got to watch him double tune it into "Red Daemon's Dragon Tyrant". Which was never that often. [Yugo briefly grins like the Jack fan he still is.]

[Yeeks. Well, she shakes her head.] Mmm, well...Your Jack was different from the one I knew, wasn't he? So it makes sense that the dragon would be different...

Yuya would know more about Tyrant, I bet, if you want to know more about it later. Been a long time since I last watched it in action.

[Ah but anyway...]

Explains why he was like that then... I would've liked to go up against Red Daemon's Dragon too though!

[To this, Clear Wing nods along vigorously.]

Hahaha~ Well, from what I hear, it'd be a lot like going against your Jack~!

Mmm, though I suppose I have to ask if I can let you visit where I'm from, for that to happen now...

[It would be a power deck vs Clear Wing's lockdown power, an exciting sort of duel to imagine.]

[And of course someone's excited.] Maybe at that point I should let Clear Wing have a shot against all the Signer Dragons...!

Hey it's Clear Wing that thinks he can beat them all one-on-one, I'm just in it for the challenge.

[The tiny dragon stares at Yugo, apparently unsure if he's doubting their abilities and his deck.]

[Carly would know this well and firsthand, with how long the woman's had to be the boy's only available opponent.]

[Annnnddd she can see Clear Wing's attitude now, so she coughs.] Ah...anyway! We were talking about this art. It's...probably Mochican...it looks like it's just a report, but I think this is one of the Scribe's works...

[Though Yugo would be hoping it's close by because trying to find anything in this place is still an extremely dull endeavor.]

Because for all we know there could be more to this story here.

Well, like I said, there were five cards... [she mutters, rifling through the folder she found. As she does so however, the ground beneath them seems to be...Bricking up. A glass window is forming a wall behind them....oh boy.]

[Yugo is preoccupied with peering over Carly's shoulder as she does that, but the tiny dragon on his own shoulder peers about as the scene around them continues to form. With a sound roughly equivalent to a gecko bark, Clear Wing vocalizes said alarm.

Because they already don't like this. They don't like it at all.]

Ooof, they're in here some- AH-!!

[They scatter on the floor, and it is then that she notices. Looking around as they appear in some combination of modern business and ancient temple, her eyes taking it in.]

H-Hehhh..what on earth...

[Yugo blinks at the unfamiliar floor and then the surroundings the instant after the dragon and Carly ntoices.]

... You know what I'm not sure I like all these books and stuff anymore.

HhhaaHAhahhahaaaaaa- Oh...

[And cue the One-Eyed serpent, the man with hair covering part of his face. And now that he looks real? Carly is actually pulling Yuugo behind her.]

Divine-! [She hisses, briefly letting flames off of her form.] Nh...that can't...

[Perhaps Yugo might have insisted that there's no way they couldn't take down this book ghost together, but the Ringmaster did say something about not directly fighting them didn't she...?]

I'm sure it's just a guy that looks like whoever you're thinking of Carly...!

[Because this seems like a bad time to ask who that name is.]

[That's what Yuugo says, but Carly's ears don't hear that. They hear 'Divine'. Divine, walking near, carving the story for them both.] Snooping in my temple...my dear, that is such a terrible crime...

[She wants to shout, it isn't snooping- that it's nothing like that. But she knows her role in the story, in her heart, and instead what she says is-]

Snooping or not, you can't hide what I found forever..! This city will KNOW!

[She chokes- holding her throat briefly, and trying to focus.] ...Yuugo..?

...Yuugo, I think you need to stay at the side... [This is...far too familiar too her.]

[Funnily enough, thanks to the fact that Yugo has no interest in hiding behind Carly like a helpless child, he listens to Carly somewhat in that regard. Just not much else- stubbornly remaining next to her.]

I'm not sitting on the sidelines to let you handle this creep alone...! [And turning to the "One-Eyed Serpent" book ghost in case it gets him noticed by the story-]

You hear that? Now... [Uh.] ... move out of our way, because it's you that doesn't know who you're really messing with!

[Clear Wing growls and would roll their eyes if they could, but only because of how generic the threat is perhaps.]
