FAERIE TALES↴![]() Though the carnival will be performing for its guests in the first week, they are welcome to search the Athenaeum while they are off duty during that time. The manifestations of story characters will be out in full force during performance week, with animals, people, objects, and even locations growing out from various tales. Most are distracting at worst, and will be curious to check out the carnival. Some, however, can be as dangerous as they were in their stories of origin. You know what to do. ► IT'S TIME TO ROLEPLAY: The best way to deal with book ghosts is to follow their narrative to its logical conclusion - turn the tables, work the story so it ends in your favour! Naturalistic and narratively satisfying plotting will have the manifestations following your lead. However, push too hard and introduce too many plot holes, inconsistencies, or illogical plot twists, and they will reject your reality utterly, becoming quite aggressive in the process. You can also use your natural abilities and powers to fight them in a traditional sense, but in the Ringmaster's experience, it's best to fight reality benders by bending reality right back at them. If you aren't careful, it's possible to be dragged fully into a story's reality, and then things get really messed up. ► IT'S ALSO TIME TO READ: The carnival came here for a purpose, and that purpose is to research. Specifically, the Ringmaster is looking for information on the Queen's Miracles - the set of ancient fae artifacts that the Blue Rose is one of. The carnival needs these artifacts to defend itself, but nobody knows where they've been for thousands of years. That's what the books are for. However, nothing is stopping you from pursuing knowledge for personal reasons. The halls are open to your perusal, and only your heart can guide you to the book you truly seek. "Worrying isn't the same as leaving safe spots. I can just call someone who knows what to do, if someone has to run outside." Which is to say, she figures she'll make someone else-presumably whoever's job it is-do it. And-
She holds her hands outward, flicking her fingers after holding her breath a moment. A certain something shimmers...
...But while she has a proper, moonlight seeming shield for a moment, it dissipates quickly. "Aaaah... ...mhm. Well... ....M practicing in case something comes and I can't get away, at least..." She'd sort of hoped the shield would hold more than a few seconds...
"...But that's what makes staying in safe places and hiding important, I guess..."

"See, this is why I don't have to worry about you so much. You're a smart kid." More praise for the praise fire.
He does look down at her hands when he sees something he's not use to seeing her do. There's something that forms there but briefly. He holds out his own hand in front of her and lets the Tease climb down his arm as if on cue. Once it touches his palm he'll pour his Dark Matter into it and it'll length into a pointed shield roughly the size of his own body for her inspection, "For now, at least until if and when you grow."

Not that such things have even come up yet of course. For now, that praise fire is burning bright, even if her own shield bungle briefly has her down. Only briefly- she's a bit surprised by a tease becoming a shield after all. "H-ah-!" She starts, before blinking curiously at the shield. "Oh... ...It's more than what the magic does when I make a shield..." She observes, apparently with awe. "And it's really big..." She's quite impressed, suffice to say.

He holds it out for her inspection, tilting his head with a wide grin at her childlike wonder. Sometimes she did act her age and less like a stunted adult. "You can touch this one if you want. I can't let you hold it though for magical reasons at least not without my help." He glances down at it to watch her hands if she does choose to touch it, "What is your shield intended to be then."

But second, she's no Susan now. The point is she's learned!! Trust her, it was a learning experience-
Reira reaches out to touch it after a moment, and at Tyki's question tilts her head up, frowning. "Mnhh...smaller," is her first answer.
To be fair she could probably sleep under this shield without trouble. So.

"Your sized shield or smaller than that?"

Reira watches as the shield becomes what she mentally calls a 'butterfly' again, and nods, chewing her lip. "Mnh..! I've been practicing, but..." Well. Suffice to say, far from perfect.
"I'll show you..!" That's a Promise.

"Good girl."

"...I'll do more practice after I have this book ready," she decides, getting her polaroid ready.

"Don't overwork yourself."
looks like a good tie off here yeah?
And while she works on pictures...well. You can sleep, Tyki. That's probably a good idea, actually.
