FAERIE TALES↴![]() Though the carnival will be performing for its guests in the first week, they are welcome to search the Athenaeum while they are off duty during that time. The manifestations of story characters will be out in full force during performance week, with animals, people, objects, and even locations growing out from various tales. Most are distracting at worst, and will be curious to check out the carnival. Some, however, can be as dangerous as they were in their stories of origin. You know what to do. ► IT'S TIME TO ROLEPLAY: The best way to deal with book ghosts is to follow their narrative to its logical conclusion - turn the tables, work the story so it ends in your favour! Naturalistic and narratively satisfying plotting will have the manifestations following your lead. However, push too hard and introduce too many plot holes, inconsistencies, or illogical plot twists, and they will reject your reality utterly, becoming quite aggressive in the process. You can also use your natural abilities and powers to fight them in a traditional sense, but in the Ringmaster's experience, it's best to fight reality benders by bending reality right back at them. If you aren't careful, it's possible to be dragged fully into a story's reality, and then things get really messed up. ► IT'S ALSO TIME TO READ: The carnival came here for a purpose, and that purpose is to research. Specifically, the Ringmaster is looking for information on the Queen's Miracles - the set of ancient fae artifacts that the Blue Rose is one of. The carnival needs these artifacts to defend itself, but nobody knows where they've been for thousands of years. That's what the books are for. However, nothing is stopping you from pursuing knowledge for personal reasons. The halls are open to your perusal, and only your heart can guide you to the book you truly seek. He stubbornly looks away to stare at the book again.] It's nothing important. I'm just surprised to see his name here.
[His obvious discomfort, however, indicates quite the contrary. Whoever this name belongs to has pretty emotional history with Tigerstar; the way his hackles raise and his claws press against the floor are pretty clear indicators of that, never mind the dread and anger boiling beneath the surface.]

[She stares, and blinks, and then blinks again at the name. And as much as she's not actually being hurt by his upset, it is strong enough to make her feel at least internally uncomfortable, the girl finally speaking again.]
....You seem a lot more than surprised...

Firestar has been a thorn in my side for several moons. He is....capable, but a kittypet at heart. Head full of ideals and little else. These "stories" seem to favor those like him.
[Tigerstar lashes his tail and stalks away from the tome.] There's not much point in speaking of him here.

...The moon changes every month, so... [That's her question that's her guess, but continuing on, she peers over at the pages, and shrugs.] ...Sometimes 'ideals' are ok. ...I guess not if there's nothing else though... ...if you don't have other things, you can't make ideals real...
[Tigerstar is leaving though, which means Reira is getting up to follow- very easy, for once, and she rather likes that.] Ummmnh...no point because he isn't here..?

...But, I suppose idealism can be dangerous. There are many stories of starry-eyed warriors who met early ends because they only followed their hearts. So perhaps it would not be a bad idea to speak of Firestar and the mistakes he has made. [His words are punctuated by yet another tail lash.] Though I would rather look to the future. ThunderClan could never hope to defeat TigerClan, but he has a way with words...

Fables. [the daemon answers.] Tales to Warn.
Umn. That.
...Are you scared for the other cats that listen to 'Firestar'?
[Poor choice of words, but...] ...because of what would happen, if they started fighting you, but then lost because they aren't strong?
[Bit of character judging here, don't mind her.]

I am not scared of Firestar. He may have a good head on his shoulders, but he could never hope to win against me in battle.
...But even so, I am wary of him. He has complicated my plans before with that charisma of his, and now that he leads ThunderClan...I have to take special precautions to be sure that he does not use WindClan against TigerClan.
[He slows briefly, actually thinking of someone other than himself a moment.] ...That is, he has a way of making more allies than enemies. That can be dangerous when a cat with that skill is working against you. I have united two of the four Clans, but if I am not careful Firestar may do the same with the other two. It could be dangerous for my Clan, even with Ringmaster's help.

I said you were scared about what he'd make happen. ...but I guess that's still not what you were saying, [She determines, tilting her head.] ...you just meant alliances.
...isn't wary the same as scared though? [It sounds the same, but she continues.] ...What makes it different? [The girl asks honestly. She's never really known.]
