THE GRAND BALL↴![]() Heartstone Manor is a giant, spooky castle floating in the middle of a twilight filled void. It is the home of a Wyld Fae calling himself The Prince - and despite his name, he is a bestial creature crammed into a gentleman's clothing, completely obsessed with replicating the ideals of old timey human society, much like the 1800's. The Prince and his many servants all dress in a manner appropriate to to the 1500's - 1800's, and decorum and beauty are held sacred above all else. All the workers of the carnival are currently staying there, in the hope of enabling a successful diplomatic venture between the Ringmaster and the Prince. The Grand Ball is being thrown by the Prince to honour these guests, but his manner of doing this is going to come as a bit of a surprise.

"I don't know what could be wrong though. Except that everything is wrong. Maybe I just have to look again... I want to fix it, whatever it is. So things can be right again."
no subject
"Perhaps we're going about this the wrong way. If everything is wrong, then maybe we should look for the things that are right."
Find what feels good, what feels normal, and work their way up from there? It's a terrible suggestion, but Strange has nothing but terrible suggestions at the moment.
no subject
"That could work... It at least gives us a place to start, maybe."
no subject
"Be careful, though," he can't help but warn. "There's...something here that's dangerous. The nightrunners were trying to figure it out before this happened."
But what was dangerous in the first place? This is a ball, there's nothing dangerous about a ball. Is there?
no subject
But since he can't even remember what happened before, he doesn't know that Strange will, either, which is sort of the problem isn't it? Maybe they need a healer, instead, to see if they can get rid of whatever magic is making them forget.
no subject
This really is annoying.
"Just be careful," he repeats, pointing out the obvious. "And I know you will, but try to be nice to the Prince's servants. I think they're as stuck as we are."
no subject
"If they're stuck too, but they're here... Maybe they know what's going on...?" He's thinking out loud, mostly, but if there's some way he can get information out of them, maybe that could help. Talking to people is the thing he's best at, after all.
no subject
"After all, you and I can't remember much but the servants helped set all of this up," said with a gesture to the food and the tables. "It would be damned inconvenient if they forgot what was on the menu. It's just catching them in a quiet moment that might be the problem."
no subject
Not that he still knows exactly what they're fixing, but... There has to be something wrong, with how fuzzy their memories are.
no subject
"It might be a good idea to tell someone what you're doing first," Strange explains, frowning still. "Or at least find back-up. In case I forget, someone else needs to know what you're doing."
As, unfortunately, Strange forgetting seems to be a pretty plausible thing that might happen.
no subject
"I'll tell Lauren. He'll want to know what I'm doing anyway... He'll watch out for me."
But of course the most important question is -
"But what should I ask? I don't know what we're looking for... I don't know how many answers I can get, even with my magic. The forgetting is the most important, right?" If they can do that, then they'll remember what was dangerous, and the night runners can remember whatever they were doing.
no subject
"Maybe you could just talk around it? Something like oh, I'm not feeling well and neither is one of my friends, do you have any idea why that might be. You could use the food or the wine as a convenient excuse if they start getting suspicious."
no subject
Unless he just ends up trying to do it on his own which, you know. Is a definite possibility. But back-up is always good so he'll try to tell him, it helps to have someone to bounce ideas off of (even if those ideas are terrible.)
no subject
Likewise, Strange's ideas are also terrible. But hey, any port in a storm.
"And Susan? Best of luck."
