THE GRAND BALL↴![]() Heartstone Manor is a giant, spooky castle floating in the middle of a twilight filled void. It is the home of a Wyld Fae calling himself The Prince - and despite his name, he is a bestial creature crammed into a gentleman's clothing, completely obsessed with replicating the ideals of old timey human society, much like the 1800's. The Prince and his many servants all dress in a manner appropriate to to the 1500's - 1800's, and decorum and beauty are held sacred above all else. All the workers of the carnival are currently staying there, in the hope of enabling a successful diplomatic venture between the Ringmaster and the Prince. The Grand Ball is being thrown by the Prince to honour these guests, but his manner of doing this is going to come as a bit of a surprise.

And then, as if she didn't just say something incredibly insulting, she shoves her hand into his and impatiently asks, "Well? Are we dancing or not?"
no subject
"Oh. Yeah." He nods, as though forgetting their conversation up to this point. "If you're ready."
So saying, he leads her toward the dance floor.

Once they're where they need to be, she reaches her other hand up to his shoulder - almost straight up, with the difference in their heights, but she manages. "You know what you're doing?" she asks. Seems the carnival's a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to dancing experience. Fortunately, Rita's picked up the skill just fine, thanks to her earlier lessons with Strange.

So saying, he starts to lead, and it just so happens that he's pretty good at this. Even if this isn't a type of dancing that he knows as well as freestyle or hip-hop, it's still something he's already caught on to extremely quickly.
"I dance for work."
no subject
It looks like his confidence is justified; with Tamaki leading, their dancing gets off to a surprisingly smooth start. Their difference in height doesn't seem to be an issue at all.
"What sort of job do you do?"
no subject
He sweeps them back and forth across the floor, as it's too boring staying in one spot. As he does, he wonders if Rita even knows what he's talking about.
"Like... singing and dancing and stuff. For money."
no subject
"What, like a minstrel or a circus performer?" she asks, trying to think of equivalents from her world. But even those aren't that familiar to her, so she clarifies with, "We didn't really have anything like that, where I grew up." Aspio sure as hell isn't known for its entertainment.
no subject
"So, idols sing and dance at concerts, or on TV. And they also other stuff, like radio shows and TV dramas. One of the guys in my group does modeling, too. Does where you come from have anything like that?"
Otherwise it might sound like he's talking a lot of nonsense...
no subject
"Do you play instruments, too?" Those are a major part of concerts, she'd expect.
no subject
In fact, he thinks playing instruments sounds kind of boring. He's not sure he would have the patience to learn how to do something like that. Spending his time on singing and dancing is much more fun.
Though, now that he has Rita talking about her world, he's interested. "What did you do back home?"
no subject
no subject
"You can have magic and technology together?" It's usually presented as separate in his world... though there were certainly some games and movies that toyed with the idea of combining them. "Like what?"
no subject
"Like... devices used to generate barriers large enough to protect a whole city from monsters." That shouldn't be too hard to picture. Although... he might not need to rely on his imagination too much, as there happens to be another example right in front of his face. "My necklace is a sort of magic technology, too."
She refers to the red-jeweled gold choker on her neck. Since she never takes it off, Rita naturally has it here at the ball.
no subject
Without waiting for an answer, Tamaki lets go of Rita with one hand to reach out and try to poke at it. He should probably not poke the thing he's just been told is some kind of magic technology when he doesn't know what it is or what it does, but Tamaki has never been known for common sense. Or politeness.
no subject
"Hey, keep your hands off of her!" she snaps at him. And yes, she did just use that pronoun for what is clearly an inanimate object.
no subject
"Ah, sorry." He lets go of her completely, holding his hands up to show he is no longer poking at anything. "What's the big deal, though?"
no subject
"To me, blastia are more than just tools. They're like..." Friends, family, companions... but it's awkward to say that outright, especially to someone she doesn't know that well. "...Well... it's sort of like, they've always been there for me, even when no one else was." Which is probably not much different than saying it outright.
