THE GRAND BALL↴![]() Heartstone Manor is a giant, spooky castle floating in the middle of a twilight filled void. It is the home of a Wyld Fae calling himself The Prince - and despite his name, he is a bestial creature crammed into a gentleman's clothing, completely obsessed with replicating the ideals of old timey human society, much like the 1800's. The Prince and his many servants all dress in a manner appropriate to to the 1500's - 1800's, and decorum and beauty are held sacred above all else. All the workers of the carnival are currently staying there, in the hope of enabling a successful diplomatic venture between the Ringmaster and the Prince. The Grand Ball is being thrown by the Prince to honour these guests, but his manner of doing this is going to come as a bit of a surprise.

"My name is Connie," she said. She opts to take his hand and put the other on his shoulder as they start to dance to the song the band was playing.

Once actually out there he glances at the other dancers before putting his hand only barely touching her hip, a little awkward about it but mostly because he doesn't really know what he's doing. Personal space isn't really a concept he's familiar with so it doesn't bother him at that level.
"I'm Susan."
no subject
"Good, then," she said. She tried to think of more things to say, but she was struggling.

It's fun, either way, even if it's not great, and he ends up going back to talking to his dance partner instead.
"Are you having fun? At the party, I mean. There's lots of good food and stuff."
no subject
"Yeah! I've never been to a party this big before! I don't think I've even been in a room with this many adults before..."
She might have said 'people' if not for school assemblies.
"I had some fettuccine alfredo and non-alcoholic sparkling cider." She was fresh from the conversation about Champagne meaning beverages raised in the specific region of Champagne so she was careful not to be inaccurate in her verbiage.
no subject
"But I've never really been at such a big party, either. We never really had them back home." And the only time he's really been to one was here in the Carnival but it... Well it went poorly, so he prefers not talk about that one. It would be hard not to be a little traumatized by your brother being turned into a vampire after all!

Step, step, turn. Step step turn. There was comfort in the repetition.
no subject
"Yeah, he is. We share a trailer at the Carnival, too." He hasn't seen her before though, so maybe she doesn't know what the Carnival is? Either way it's the truth, so he doesn't let it bother him.
"He's older than me, and kind of annoying sometimes, but it's nice having him with me."
no subject
"What's that like? I don't have any siblings."
no subject
"It's like... There's always someone there for you, to help you out. Kinda like a friend, but they really want to make sure you're always okay. And they can be really annoying, 'cause you have to be around them, but you also want them around in the end, even when you're mad at them for something like winning at wrestling or not letting you only eat dessert."
Maybe some of that's only how it is with him and Lauren since Lauren is kind of a parent-figure to him too, he isn't sure. But that's the only sibling relationship he really can describe.
no subject
"I wasn't allowed to watch wrestling, although admittedly I don't think the motivation was really there to begin with."
no subject
"Wrestling's more fun when you can turn into wolves anyway. It makes it a lot more interesting!" Even if Lauren as a wolf is still bigger and stronger than him.
no subject
"Is that a video game? I wouldn't have been allowed to play that one either." Not because of any particular hangup her parents had about shapeshifting or legend lore, but more about the core issues with any wrestling themed media.
no subject
"No, it's not, it's just magic. Like using a spell to turn into a wolf? It's more fun than as a person." It's kind of weird, though, he knows, but still.
"But it's not important. It's just a dumb brother thing I guess."
no subject
"Ha ha, no I totally get it now. Just your typical shapeshifting slash roughhousing."
Distracted as she was by this conversation she accidentally stepped on the inside of her dress, causing her to stumble a bit.
no subject
"Are you okay?"
