THE GRAND BALL↴![]() Heartstone Manor is a giant, spooky castle floating in the middle of a twilight filled void. It is the home of a Wyld Fae calling himself The Prince - and despite his name, he is a bestial creature crammed into a gentleman's clothing, completely obsessed with replicating the ideals of old timey human society, much like the 1800's. The Prince and his many servants all dress in a manner appropriate to to the 1500's - 1800's, and decorum and beauty are held sacred above all else. All the workers of the carnival are currently staying there, in the hope of enabling a successful diplomatic venture between the Ringmaster and the Prince. The Grand Ball is being thrown by the Prince to honour these guests, but his manner of doing this is going to come as a bit of a surprise.

He is, however, very aware of LeFlamme's warning about magic. He is so intent on keeping his hands--er, paws--to himself that he ends up agitatedly digging his claws into his hair instead. The sparrow is also in his hair, but in a much less restless way.
If anyone else intends to linger, he will look over the book shelves, doing his best to read the spines of what books he can see but growing increasingly impatient to move on.

He keeps his hand closed tight on the handle of his glaive, though. Just in case.
From the corner of his eye, he watches Foster; the poor dude seems about ready to burst with anxious energy, and it's a weird thing to see. He knows just how unhinged he can go-- but fortunately, he also knows just what to do if he needs to chill out.

It's not bound to be as interesting at the books or the devices, but it pays to cover every corner. He's looking more for things that appear out of place than anything else. If the Rose isn't in here or in the bedroom — although they won't know that for sure until they do check — then there could be a hidden room. A hidden room might have a trigger, although if the Prince would bother with a physical one over a magic word or something, who even knows.

She's putting absolutely nothing back where she found it. Sorry, guys.

Taako: You will find a set of silver coins sitting on the mantlepiece above the fire. Each of them is about palm-sized and silver in colour, though they seem to shine with an inner light that aids in illustrating the picture carved onto their surfaces. Each of them are the same, and all bear a portrait of the same woman. The coins feel cold, even for metal. Writing along the bottom reads "Of Winter's Wind".
Childermass: You find a creepy looking amulet. It doesn't open any secret portals, but it does seem to be magical. You won't find out anything else unless you fiddle with it, however.
Lapis Lazuli: You will find a vial of purplish brown liquid. It is clearly magical, and is sitting next to some kind of alchemy set. There are notes written on papers next to the work area, but the handwriting is almost impossible to read, and speaks of things you have no context for.
Syrlya: On the Prince's desk, there is a box. You open the box. On the inside, it first looks as if there is nothing but a black void in the bottom of it - only for it to become suddenly apparent that it is actually filled with thousands of spiders which are now flooding out of the box and covering the whole desk at a rapid pace. Trying to close the lid again seems very likely to allow the spiders to crawl straight onto your arm.

This is probably a bad thing.

But then Syr starts getting bitten by a bunch of spiders, so that's a big distraction.
no subject
"Syrlya!"
He gives a start at seeing all those damn spiders and takes a step that way. He isn't wading through the spiders to get to him, though. He's stepping into the shadow of an armchair and attempting to step through that over to Syrlya's shadow. If he's successful, he's grabbing Syr and backstepping to a shadow further away from spiders.
no subject
And just kind of stares as Syrlya gets ganged up on by spiders.
no subject
He's already backing away for the door, though. This isn't what he's here for.
--and his magic is only really useful once Syr is dead, okay.
no subject
Still, he's swearing under his breath while getting them off (while getting picked at by a bird, and this is just an awful situation all around). They're very plant based vulgarity.
Once they're off, he'll wave his hand with a bright light to attempt some self-healing for the--poison? It's not a strong spell but he's hoping it'll do at least something.
And they should probably leave or clear the spiders.
no subject
To everyone else, he snaps, "Into the bedroom, now." Because if no one's moving to kill those spiders already, he's going to assume no one can. That means trying to get away from what else got out of that box, instead.
no subject
They will come out into a luxurious bedroom area, complete with massive four poster bed, a large bathing area, an enormous walk-in closet, and a number of other things. It doesn't really seem like a place for keeping magical items so much as a place to keep his personal grooming items.
Bicorn will explain that she never saw anything special in here besides his personal belongings. She thinks that there is a way to get to the floor above, but she can't remember how.
no subject
At Childermass's demand, he pushes himself off of whatever is nearby using the glaive's handle and drifts that way, keeping above the floor. He's headed for that bedroom.
no subject
He looks up at the ceiling at the Bicorn's prompting, but isn't making any search attempts yet in favor of making sure he's, you know, not about to die.

"That's spreading fast," he points out what's painfully obvious. He reaches out tentatively to touch some of the blackening skin. "Can you still feel this?"
no subject
He glances around expectantly. Someone's gotta be able to do something here, right?? Illusion magic is useless.
no subject
"You may want to sit down," he tells Syrlya before turning and calling out to the others, "Foster, Taako. Come over here. I've no magic of my own that could help with this."
no subject
"What's up?"
no subject
"... as long as that arm is attached to a living body, there's nothing I can do to it," he informs them coldly.
no subject
no subject
"It's the poison from the spiders. It'll reach the rest of his body soon, which means we either need to cure it or—" And here he looks back over at Syrlya. "We may have to remove it to save your life, but I do not know if you would survive that, either."
